In lieu of "friend" parties this year, we took a trip to Cedar Point to celebrate both kid's birthdays. G, Uncle Cullen, Rebecca, Jordan and Ella joined us for the celebration. It was HOT (like REALLY HOT) but we had an amazing time!! Some highlights:
- First ride of the day was Magnum for Cullen, Hung and Avery. I had thought her phone would be OK in her purse and said she could take it on. Well, on the second hill it smacked Cullen in the head and floated off. We assumed it was gone forever but shockingly it was somehow recovered, turned into Lost and Found and has one TINY scratch on the bottom of the case. A birthday miracle!
- Avery was able to do the Raptor and Rogarou this time now that she is tall enough and loved them both. Her fave is still Gatekeeper which she got to ride 3 times. My back and weak stomach make it harder for me to do coasters now but I got to ride Mine Ride, Blue Streak and Iron Dragon with her. Hung and Cullen took care of the rest :)
- Avery, Ella, Bec and I took a heat break and did some Soak City on Saturday. The tube slide and lilly pad jumps were favorite and we also had fun on the lazy river and in the wave pool. Tay went to the hotel pool with G and Hung and loved it!
- Tay really enjoyed Snoopy Land - the Roller Coaster was his fave and he did about 5-10 times! He also loved the Tilt-A-Whirl but every adult that tried it came off feeling awful. He was tall enough to do some bigger coasted but not quite brave enough this trip - I asked if he wanted to give Iron Dragon a go and he said "It scared the HELL out of me!".
- Tay and Avery both tried the ladder climbing game and got SUPER close to winning. Not quite all the way but it was super impressive. They also played the guess your birthday month game and all 3 kids won!
- Avery and Hung rode the Force right at closing. They said the ride was amazing and the walk back was a nightmare as all the lights were off and they got lost. Tay crashed in the stroller ride home with me, G and Cullen.
- We ended at the Waterpark on day 2 and it ended up storming so we had to run out in a rush. But the kids handled the disappointment like champs, we found a McDonalds, changed, got some food with the slowest service, laughed a ton and had a smooth ride home.
- Avery said many times that it was the best birthday ever. It was perfect having G and Uncle Cullen there along with the Bolton's. The girls decided they are actual cousins :)
- Cedar Point fries are still amazing!!
- I am exhausted and stuffed full of crappy amusement park food but full of gratitude for my amazing kids and awesome weekend away with my family. We are so so lucky!
Looking fresh to start the day
