Our official vacation week has been going great. We have had perfect, sunny 80+ degree weather every day and have been taking advantage of the Leelanau peninsula.
Here is what we have been up to....
Monday: We spent the day at Van's Beach and Uncle Du had lots of fun swimming with Avery. Monday night we all went to La Becasse for dinner. We had the patio to ourselves and it ended up being an almost 3 hour meal - Avery did amazingly well. And she looked beautiful in her new dress from Uncle Du. We all took turns walking her around the woods and she loved her whitefish and mashed potatoes dinner! She was also totally obsessed with our waitress - she couldn't stop staring at her every time she came to our table.
Tuesday: Hung and Du went golfing during the day. Avery, Grams and I went to the library to see the Raptor exhibit - they had live birds to show all the kids but the main rule was that you could not yell out. Well, it just made Avery too excited and she had to squeal and point so we ended up leaving pretty quickly. We then went to Suttons Bay for the day and did some shopping. Tuesday night we had the Halsey's and Sally Booth over for dinner. We had an amazing meal - grilled chicken and steak and tons of fresh veggie dishes followed by Sisson's Cookies for dessert. Avery refused the avocado and raspberries but LOVED smoked Trout and cave aged gruyere cheese - where is she getting this sophisticated palate? The only snafu of the day - Avery missed her afternoon nap and then fell asleep around 7. She woke up at 8 in a TOTAL panic and seemed pretty mad that we had tried to put her to bed. After she finally calmed down she was back in play mode and didn't fall asleep until 11 pm. We were way off schedule that night!
Wednesday: Hung, Uncle Du, Grams, Avery and me spent the day at the Suttons Bay beach - we packed a picnic, played in the warm water and swung on the swings. It was a great beach day! We had dinner at Funistrada with Sally Booth. It was such a great meal - we had never tried it before but it came highly recommended by my friend Lisa. It is on the list for next year and was also kid friendly. Avery loved the Bread Pudding at the end of the meal and we all took turns walking her outside between courses. We ended the night with me and the boys heading to the casino - we all lost (pretty badly!) but it was still fun.
Thursday: Avery, Grams, Hung and I spent the day in Traverse City at the Cherry Festival. It was a blast - Avery got to ride the train and the Merry Go Round. She was pretty stoic the whole time - maybe she'll enjoy it more next year? We had lunch in downtown Traverse City, walked through the shops and also wandered through the Cherry festival. Avery was exhausted and spent the 2nd half of the trip napping in her stroller. We are spending tonight having a quiet dinner at home.
Only a couple days left...Sad to be leaving soon but also thankful for the amazing trip we have had so far!
