May/June Update

eLearning ended and it's officially summer here - Although a bit different than most summers given COVID and the protests against racial injustice and police brutality. But we are hanging in and loosening up a little bit - seeing friends and having play dates. A few highlights from the last month:

  • G and Du moved back to their actual houses. It was sad to see them go and we could not have asked for a better quarantine crew!!
  • We got hammocks in under the deck - they are a HIT. Avery loves to lay in hers and read. Tay is currently really into math problems (addition less than 10) and loves to lay in the hammock and have us ask him equations
  • We have had playdates with Lila & Lena, Brooke & Zach, Kendall, Brooklyn, Enoch The Gill Crew and some other neighbors. It's been mostly outdoors but the kids have loved seeing friends at parks and backyards and having some pure kid playtime!!
  • Grandma T experienced a clogged artery and had to have an emergency stent put in. They were in the middle of trying to get the house ready to list and she needed help so Hung and I took our first trip out of the house and went to GR along with my siblings to help them get everything ready and give Teri some relief. The kids stayed back in Indy with G, Uncle Du and Uncle Cullen. It was actually really fun to have adult time with my siblings and we got a TON done. The house was listed, sold in 1 day, and they have bought a condo in Rockford. Lots to do in the next month before they close and move!!
  • Avery did an online acting class and created some cool characters (Maggie the Magician and Lydia - The Schyuler sister's friend from Hamilton) and got to put on a virtual play.
  • Avery is LOVING to read (Dork Diaries are a current fave) and also really loving bike riding!! Tay now loves to drive his jeep around the neighborhood and is super into My Little Pony shows and Mario Tennis - He is starting to really like video games and it's a fun thing for us all to do at night before bed :)
  • We discovered fishing in the back pond which has been a great pastime!
  • We have also been helping G and Papa get their house cleaned out and ready for them to move in August. They will only be 5 min from us - YAY!! Tay said yesterday he wished G was our neighbor and could live with us again. They really became good buddies during quarantine!!
  • Aunt Maddie and Uncle Eddie came to visit -They had to postpone their wedding again until May of 2021 and were just a little clunked. So having a weekend with them was just what we all needed to lift our spirits! Lots of laughs, games and WAY TOO MUCH CANDY!
  • Our next door neighbor has been watching the kids during the day since Cullen is now running summer camp. Taylor (Ms. Taylor - Tay originally called her Big Taylor and I suggested we not use that nickname for a 22 year old girl lol) has been GREAT -They have a pool so the kids get to swim a ton and they are doing fun activities everyday like baking, crafts, sidewalk chalk, long bike rides and lots of reading in the hammocks. She is making June very easy on us!
So despite the turmoil, madness and sadness in the world, we are hanging in and making the best of 2020 which is a pretty sucky year. We are not sure what the next months will bring but doing our best to keep on going and find joy when we can!

The pets continue to get tons of snuggle time!!
