Quarantined Easter

We had a super busy and fun Easter. Avery put out her traditional snack for the Easter Bunny (lettuce, carrots and cucumbers in the shape of a bunny face - I forgot to get a pic :() on Saturday night before bed (Avery told me she knows all fairies are real but she really doesn't believe in Cupid - full faith though that there is an Easter Bunny!). On Sunday, it started with the kids going on a 40 clue egg hunt to find their baskets from bunny. This was first year Tay really got into the hunt part - there was lots of him saying "I shink I know where that is". They ran all around the house together and it was very sweet. They were super excited to find their baskets - Avery loved her American Girl Doll Wardrobe and Tay loved his bubble gun best. They had fun playing with their toys and having some treats. Avery made handmade cards and presents for everyone and wrapped them - SUPER sweet!

After Avery and I went for a jog, Avery and Hung had a "Nailed It" challenge that they have been planning for a few weeks. The goal was to create a Unicorn Cake and I think they actually did an awesome job!! The one snafu happened when Avery was done mixing her buttercream icing and she pulled the hand mixer out and it got caught in long hair. It immediately snaked it's way up to her scalp and she was screaming and sobbing in pure terror. I was moving like I was in jello and couldn't get it turned off - Hung had the sense to pull the plug and we were able to untangle her frosting filled hair and get it cleaned. She lost a couple handfuls of hair but really wasn't in pain - she was just shook! Once we calmed down she was ready to get back at it and finish the challenge. It took a few hours but they made some impressive (and yummy) cakes - Fondant was their friend as G said! We zoomed with the Hopkins Crew so they could help judge and those of here in person were able to taste test. Avery won the visual portion, Hung edged her on flavor/moistness and we gave the win to Avery for enduring the dreaded Hand Mixer.

We then had a great dinner (Ham, Green Bean Casserole, Cheesy Potatoes, Deviled Eggs and Stuffed Celery) on Grammy's China. We also did some extra egg hunts that Tay organized, Avery put on an instructional show about COVID19 and a Donald Trump Roast and Tay ended the night with a SpiderMan show and autographs afterwards where we writes the first letter of your name, a heart, and Taylor. It was an awesome day!!
