COVID19 Quarantine Week #3

This has been a week of mostly highs and one low. And LOTS of tricks!

The Highs:

  • Social Distancing Science Experiments with neighbors - This week we made parachute Lego Men and also put peeps in 4 different liquids to see what would dissolve the fastest. We found juice and pop were slower than water because they already have sugar.
  • Avery and I watched some of my favorite Chick Flick movies from when I was a kid - Troop Beverly Hills and Girls Just Want to Have Fun. She loved both of them!!
  • Papa has been sending over the kids section of the New York Times - Avery loved reading it before bed and we also started a huge dinosaur coloring page
  • G taught a virtual acting class for some neighbors. It was a hit and we will do it again in the coming weeks! We are SO lucky and happy to have here here with us!!
  • Tay has been REALLY into Ninja moves, bows and arrows, legos, puzzles and all of his building toys
  • Avery has been very faithful writing cards to Grammy and my Grandpa in Michigan. Grandpa wrote her back this week which melted me!
  • We made it over to Cool Creek Park for a Nature walk with G. We tried to find something that started with each letter of the alphabet on our walk.
  • We had an awesome dinner outside on Friday after surviving the work week. Baked Ziti was a big hit!! Kids also got in some baseball.
  • We went to UHS over the weekend and practiced bike riding and scootering. Avery really took of which was awesome! And we got to feed the chickens. Hung and Du fit in some social distance golfing - no carts or holes and walked the full course.
  • Bingo Snuggles and super cozy sleeping with mama!!
The Low:
  • School was officially cancelled for the year. We knew it was coming but to get the final word made Avery really sad. Tears were shed and she said "I just loved walking into my class every morning. I love Mrs. Tebbe and all the kids in my class. My face would light up and my smile would last all day." I understand the disappointment! She is doing better but it was a hard day.
  • Tay was ecstatic to be done with school and learn that the next time he goes it will be at Avery's school!

A week of TRICKS! Avery also really got into the April Fool's Spirit and pulled tricks on ALL of us.
  • She covered a sponge in nutella and sprinkles and told Tay it was a brownie
  • She froze a bowl of cereal overnight and gave Tay frozen cereal for breakfast
  • She wet and wadded up a toilet paper roll and made it look like Dog Poop and put it by Uncle Du's bed. He totally fell for it!
  • She also moved all the toilet paper rolls out and put Duct Tape on the holder for G and Du
  • She put a picture of the joker in G's shower
  • Avery put a goofy picture of herself in the dryer when I went to dry clothes
  • The BEST one - She mixed glue and paint and filled a nail polish bottle. Then she made it looks spilled and let it dry on parchmant paper. She set up a nail painting station and told Hung she had spilled it all over the carpet. She did an amazing acting job and he totally fell for it!! Was convinced she had ruined the carpet in our bedroom.
