Week 3 meant the arrival of Rebecca and Linde and their families, Daddy and Uncle Du!!! And it was such a fun week!
- Saturday we started with the Leland Art Fair, lunch in the back yard with all our new arrivals and then beach time. The kids spent the whole time building a "secret hot tub" for mommy and I was the lucky one who got to go in!! So honored! We then grilled and had an awesome dinner in the backyard celebrating the arrival of Du and Daddy!!
- Sunday the boys golfed in the morning while the rest of us Cherry Picked. Tay did NOT want to go in the morning and it took Parker enticing him with climbing trees to get him to come - Then he was the one who loved it the most and could have picked all day. After Cheese Shanty lunch we headed to the beach with Bolton's and Hutson's and ended the day with dinner at Hoplot and ice cream!
- Monday the kids and I got up early and did the Dunes with the Bolton's. Tay was a BEAST on the dunes - Was the first one to the top and the bottom!! Ran almost the whole way. Avery and Parker were troopers - glad they came but may not do it next year :) We then visited Glen Arbor where the girls had a lot more fun shopping. We had lunch at Art's and did our own Cherry Tasting room since the main was closed at Cherry Republic. Fun but tiring start to the day so we spent the afternoon chilling and some excellent beach time. The day ended with dinner at the Blue Bird (Where Tay played with his new blocks from G and told Alicia some awesome jokes) and ice cream (of course!).
- Tuesday was a rainy day but we sure made the best of it!! The guys golfed Arcadia Bluffs (after the rain cleared) and we headed to Traverse City with Alicia and Parker - We painted more pottery, all saw Boss Baby 2 and the kids danced in front of the screen after the movie, we then had dinner at one of Grammy's old faves Big Boy (sad they no longer have their cabbage soup) and then we saw "The Sound of Music" in the park. The show was actually really good - the girls loved it and Tay did well for being 5 1/2. He was a little squirmy and at one point wanted to go tickle Alicia in the middle of a dramatic scene at the end but otherwise held it together nicely. One funny thing is Tay discovered this face swapping App where you can turn people to other genders, make them old or young etc. It has been amusing him for hours and when we went into Big Boy he wanted to take pictures of strangers for his app and was aiming his iPad at the table next to us - We had to explain why you couldn't do this :)
- Wednesday the boys took the kids fishing in Lake Michigan - each boat caught 2 trout and the kids did awesome for being on a boat for 4 hours and only getting 3 bites!! The girls went to some wineries during the boat ride and then we all met up at Sutton's Bay beach to see the Bolton's a bit more as it was their last night. Frankie finally warmed up to us and played with Avery on the beach and Tay had fun playing soccer with Luke and Cooper. We ended the day grilling out in the back yard and Avery and Parker braved a night swim before the storm hit! Tay stayed home and swapped faces on his new app and watched Duck Tales. Another great day!
- Thursday we hosted the Bolton's for the first half of the day as they waited for their car to be ready in Traverse City. We played Spoons which everyone loved (Avery was the worst LOL but caught on by the end), had lunch at the Lodge and got some time on the playground. I drove the Bolton's to TC while everyone else bowled in Northport (Tay bowls like he is passing a basketball) and then we had dinner at Martha's. Tay made up a game called "Chase P (but not the bathroom pee)" which involved him spinning his hands and making noises and then whoever he pointed at was "out" that round. Super random and he looked a little like the exorcist but kept him entertained! We then came back to Leland and walked the rocks and got in one last night swim with Parker. Tay and Alicia had some sick rap battles while the girls played in the freezing water and we watched the sunset. Tay got upset when he said 30 * 7 was 220 and we said it was 210. By that time it was close to 10 pm and time to call it a day :)
- Friday we said good bye to Parker, the boys snuck in another round of golf and we ended Hung and Du's visit with a great dinner at Riverside and, of course ice cream.
I am sad to see my vacation part of the summer end but happy me and the kids get one more week in Leland with Camp G!!
