We have arrived in Leland and it's been heaven so far!! On our drive up, the kids and I stopped in Midland and had dinner with my Grandpa. My Dad was able to join us as well - We had a great meal, got ice cream and then played some pinochle (the kids entertained themselves with all of Grandpa's magnifying glasses). It warmed my heart to have some time with him, see his condo, and for the kids to make memories with him. Totally worth the extra couple hours in the car!!
Our first week in Leland was camp G while I worked. The weather has been in the 60's/low 70's which has actually been perfect. It's sunny and warm enough to enjoy the beach but the cottage stays cool and it's comfortable walking around town. A few activities from this week:
- Visiting the Library. Avery is reading Charlotte's Web to Tay. Their goal is 2 chapters a day. It's just too sweet!
- A trip to the Northport Lighthouse - Tay was a little scared climbing up but thinks he might be brave enough to go back and try again later. One funny thing, the person who was taking payment for entering the park said "Welcome to Michigan State park" and Tay goes "MICHIGAN STATE??? We just like Michigan" LOL.
- Perusing the shops in Leland and Glen Arbor. G has been getting them lots of fun toys and treats. Avery got a gorgeous musical note necklace that is so far her favorite purchase of the trip!
- We spent G's B-day in Traverse City. We painted pottery, shopped, had a fun dinner at Mackinaw Brewery and then went to the movies. Avery and I saw Peter Rabbit 2 while G and Tay saw Boss Baby 2. It was my first movie since Covid and it was fun to be back!
- Some good beach time! Lots of sand for Taylor and swimming for Avery.
- Flower Picking
- Yummy meals, Ice Cream and Candy!!
- Relaxing time at the cottage - lots of reading, playing with Beyblades, and cars.
I am SO excited to be done with work and start my 2 week vacation. First up, Uncle Cullen and Aunt KJ are headed up for a week. Alicia and Parker will also be here. We can't wait!!
