Fall Break Camping

We headed to Mammoth Cave with the Donnelsons and Krawczyks to kick off Fall Break for 2 nights of rustic, tent camping. I missed the camping trip last year as I was stuck home with Covid so I was excited to join in the festivities this year. It was pretty chilly and very rainy so the elements were not too kind to us but the kids LOVED the trip - lots of exploring in the woods, gathering shells and firewood, fishing, throwing the football with friends, playing games, preparing meals (Hung made amazing Rocky Mountain Toast for breakfast), and chatting around the fire. We also took a tour of Mammoth Cave and saw some cool drip columns! The kids were so high energy and really embraced the camping experience (including lack of bathing and teeth brushing...). Sleep was a little rough for Hung and me and dealing with the wet elements put a bit of a damper on things - Not sure the Trieus will be annual campers but we had a great time with good friends and I loved seeing the kids so happy!

It was LOVELY to get home (complete with all the laundry done and a homemade pot of chicken soup compliments of G), unpack and SHOWER! We are all pretty tired tonight and looking forward to our beds!!
