2020 - More Holiday Fun

We are continuing to lay low (besides going to school) so we can enjoy Christmas with family. Some highlights and stories:

  • Ella and Skin Skin continue to be silly and leave fun presents for the kids. They have been getting pretty creative.
  • The last week of school is holiday spirit week - Monday was fuzzy socks, Tuesday they dressed as their favorite characters which were Rudolph and Santa. Wednesday was PJ day (Poor Tay had to miss as he has a stomach bug) and on Thursday it was Ugly Sweater Day (Ave's favorite). Avery has been SO cute picking out different xmas socks and earrings for her outfits everyday. She is so into the spirit of the season and it just melts me!
  • We spent one weekend wrapping and making gingerbread houses - Tay wanted his done fast was more into eating candy. Avery took her time and made a really cute house!!
  • We had one creepy surprise - I was on the treadmill and saw a mouse run from the stairs into the storage room. We set some glue traps and caught 3 - One of them Bingo found and he ended up with a dead mouse and glue trap stuck on his front leg. G took care of the other 2 with a broom and channeled her inner Grammy (who I have a vivid memory of killing a mouse with a broom in her kitchen while my mom shrieked when I was little - the roles have been reversed :)) We have seen no mice since, all traps are clear and no droppings so we THINK we are OK. Fingers crossed!!
  • One thing that is cracking me up lately. Tay has trouble saying "thirty" so he'll always refer to it as 3 tens. He said to me "You have to be forty to play this song on my piano and you are only 3 tens and a 9 so you can't play it" LOL
  • Tay is also getting really good a Connect 4! Legit beats Hung and me all the time.
  • Avery is LOVING her new bedroom - Hangs at her new desk all the time to doodle, watch her iPad, facetime with friends, read, etc.
  • Avery is also handling not seeing friends SO well - She can't wait for xmas and is just being really mature about having to stay home besides school.
  • We had our first snowfall and Avery created and decorated a snowman she named "Tiny Tim"
  • Tay took a cardboard box and spent hours scraping off a layer and proclaimed "I am getting so much practice. I am going to win at scraping the deck at the cottage this summer." DYING!
  • Tay had his own carwash for all his Hotwheels to pass an exciting Friday night - Before that we all got Covid tests which he was pretty thrilled about.
  • Saturday was spent making our Cornflake Wreaths and the dough for Grandma's Cookies!!
  • Avery and I have been watching movies every night. The Prom is a new fave!
  • We ended the week with Dinner at G and Papa's to celebrate with Cullen and KJ before they head to Florida. Everyone has been quarantining (outside of going to school) and we all got Covid Tests so trying to be safe as we get together. I had drawn Cullen in our family gift exchange so I was excited to give him the Westfield shirts I had made for him. We had La Marg and Rene's baked goods for dessert. Taylor was really excited about his "disc shooter" and Avery was surprised with a wheelchair. She had asked for one to play pretend with friends but she didn't think she would get it. Needless to say she is THRILLED! It was a great night and we will miss Cullen and KJ terribly on Xmas day but happy we get this time with them.
