G and Papa took us all to The Wilds for a weekend to celebrate all the summer birthday's. We started with a private tour from Jan Ramer and Taylor and Olivia were also able to join us. We got to meet a baby Takin and some other babies at the Vet clinic before venturing out to The Wilds. The Ostrich freaked us out a little and we loved feeding and petting the giraffe. The Pere David deer were probably my favorite - The male covers his antlers in moss and mud and then pees and poops on himself to attract mates and once he gets them he hoards them and chases away any males that approach his herd and corrals any females back that try to escape - He is super ripped and skinny because he has no time to eat as he is constantly breeding and keeping his women near. The rhino was also really cool!
The night we spent time swimming in the lake to cool off - both kids loved it!! We had a great dinner with Jan, Taylor and Olivia and were all exhausted. Our cabin was so nice and the perfect place to relax after being outdoors all day.
On Sunday we took the open air safari tour and got to see some more animals and see some of the same ones doing different things. Avery and Tay both loved feeding the birds!
