Leland 2015 - Week 1

Avery and I spent the last two weeks in Leland - our last big vacation before Baby Boy Trieu arrives. The first week we had Hung, Uncle Du, Uncle Cullen, KJ and Cullen's friends (Jon, Kurt and Taylor). And, of course, we had G and Papa the whole time!

The first week was vacation time!! Hung and Du got some good rounds of golf in - and Hung beat Du at Arcadia Bluffs which was his highlight of the week :)

Monday: Avery got some great beach time on Van's beach with Cullen and KJ while the rest of the guys golfed. We had a cook out at the cottage for dinner with the whole crew.

Tuesday: Not great weather - pretty rainy. So we spent time shopping around town, checking out books at the library, and relaxing at the cottage. And Avery got to play at the park with Hung and Uncle Du. We had dinner at Sally's and were able to all spend time on the beach at night and watch the sunset. It was probably my favorite night!

Library Time

Perfect night on Sally's Beach!!

Wednesday: Cullen and his crew headed back to Indy. We all had breakfast at the Early Bird and spent the day around Leland. Avery got some good park time with Hung and Uncle Du. After nap, Avery, G and I spent time at what Avery calls "The Secret Garden" which is the park around the library. We did lots of pretend Bear Hunts and also this pretend restaurant game that went on for about 2 hours. She would play imagination all day if someone was willing to play along with her. The boys golfed Arcadia that night and Avery, G, Papa and I had dinner at the Bluebird.

Fun at the Park!

Arcadia Bluffs!

Thursday: The Bolton's came to town and we spent the day in Sutton's Bay at the beach. Avery had so much fun swimming and playing in the sand with Hannah, Ella, Uncle Du and Hung.

We had no clue what this game was but it occupied the girls for a good 20-30 minutes

Friday: The boys golfed with Jordan. It was a rainy day so Avery and I went to Glen Arbor with Rebecca and the girls. We went to Smocks, Paper, Scissors and Cherry Republic where Avery got to go the tasting room and try different Cherry Soda's. After lunch we headed back for some downtime. It was Du's last night so we had our traditional final dinner at the Riverside with Sally. After dinner Avery spent lots of time dancing and playing on the dock - she put on a show for the boaters going by.

Saturday: Another rainy day but we made the best of it with brunch at Martha's and time at the Children's Museum with the Bolton's. The day cleared up and we ended up having dinner at Sally's and spending time on her beach. Avery got to play with Elliott and Isaac and had a really fun night splashing in the lake and getting buried in the sand.

Sunday: It was Hung's last day (and my last day of vacation) - We started out at the Fireman's Pancake Breakfast at the VFW Hall that we go to every year - It was Hung's inaugural visit and am sure he loved it! Avery didn't feel like the beach so we spent the day around Leland shopping and going to the park - Avery LOVES the park and goes into total imagination land. We were playing veterinarian and having to be all kinds of different animals that kept getting sick and then having to go back to the jungle. It was very involved!! Hung and I had a date night at Martha's and then met up with everyone at Sally's after dinner. Avery and Hung did lots of races along the beach - she made me race her a few times but I was pretty darn slow :)

Being Silly at Breakfast

Some funny Avery sentences:

As Hung was leaving she said "I love you daddy. No matter what happens you'll always be my daddy and I'll always be your little girl!"

She kept saying "You forgot your goodbye hug and kiss" whenever any of us left to go somewhere.

My mom was putting her to bed when I had a work call one night and Avery wanted me. My mom kept saying "The point is Avery we need to just go to bed and relax." And Avery kept saying "No G, the point is MOMMY"

She told G: "I love you a lot G. But I love my mommy more". Nice Avery....

After my first day of work she said to me around 5:30 "Can I be done with my babysitter." G was the babysitter....Nice Avery!

Avery enjoyed her first Chapter Book - She borrowed it from Sally and loved having us read to her every night. We did not think she would like it since there were no pictures but she got really into it and wanted to see if Wilbur was going to die.

It was a little bittersweet having our last vacation as a family of 3 and I just loved all the time with our Northern Michigan crew. Looking forward to going back next summer!!
