Celebrating Avery's 2nd Birthday in Grand Rapids

Avery and I went to Michigan this past weekend to visit Grandpa, Grandma T, Aunt Maddie, Jeff, Uncle Nate and Debbie. It was my first time driving with Avery alone on a road trip and she did great - despite only napping about 45 minutes she was in a good mood thanks to snacks and the iPad. My Dad and I went to the Notre Dame vs. Michigan football on Saturday (we remain undefeated 3-0 at Mich/Notre Dame games). It was a night game and we had a blast - we checked out Game Day, walked around campus and downtown, and hit up a few tailgates. It was such a fun day but we didn't get home until 2:30 am - I had not stayed up that late in I don't know how long!

Avery had a great day with Grandma T - They played with Maddie's old Beanie Babies and American Girl Dolls in the morning and then went to the barn and the zoo after nap. Aunt Maddie was home in time for dinner and Avery got spaghetti, ice cream and then a bath.

On Sunday, Uncle Nate and Debbie arrived from Boston and Avery loved getting tons of attention from her Aunts and Uncles. Avery carried Maddie's Disney stuffed animals around all day and gave lots of check ups. Grandma Lou also stopped by for a bit and Aunt Maddie's boyfriend, Jeff, joined us for cake and presents. It was his actual birthday so we had a joint celebration. After getting not a lot of sleep on Saturday, Avery and I both crashed early.

We drove home today and Avery (again taking a short nap) did amazingly well in the car. But she sure was worn out from her busy weekend. She was literally falling asleep at the dinner table and was in bed by 6:45. Now I am just hoping she is not up at 4:00 am and ready to play :) Update: She slept through until almost 7 - 12 whole hours which we NEVER get!
