We had a great last week in Leland and are sad our Michigan Summer is coming to an end. Hung and Du left on Saturday and we took advantage of my last couple days before heading back to work - We swam a lot, went to a BBQ chicken dinner for the Lion's Club in Empire and Fireman's Pancake Breakfast in Glen Arbor, and got cozy in a small bed :) Tay wanted to sing us all to sleep which was super cute but not very practical.
Monday I had to go back to work and the kids spent the day at Sutton's Bay beach with G and the Lawrence Crew. We met them for dinner at Hop Lot and got Ice Cream at Scoops 22 to end the day.
Tuesday, Papa and G packed up the car and took the kids to Mackinac island for a few days. One of the nights included a stay at the Grand Hotel!!! This was an amazing gift for the kids and such a special memory they will have forever. I was not too sad to have a quiet and peaceful cottage to myself (plus Lizzy!). They arrived Tuesday afternoon and checked in to their hotel in Mackinaw City - They then took a trip to the island and went to the butterfly garden and had dinner at the Great Turtle Brewery. Avery was disappointed that her "Soda Pop Flight" was not added to the menu as promised last summer on her trip with Uncle Nate and Aunt Debbie. Wednesday they checked into the Grand, had an awesome pool day, explored the hotel, hung out on the porch and had dinner which included the famous Pecan Ball!! Thursday was a funfilled day with only 2 photos. After an awesome breakfast buffet in the Grand Ballroom, Avery and Papa biked the island (When G asked what they talked about Avery said "I don't really know. A lot psychology stuff" :)) while G and Tay played Bocci and took another trip to the Butterfly Garden. Then they had lunch at the golf course and spent the afternoon in the pool before a final dinner in the Grand Ballroom. They had breakfast on Friday, took the boat back to Mackinaw City and headed to the cottage. What an AMAZING way to end the vacation for the kids, G and Papa!!! They are SO lucky! And Hung and I are so grateful to have the BEST and MOST GENEROUS G and Papa out there!
We spent our last night having a visit with Lori Lutz and then dinner at the Lawrence's cottage complete with a Glow Stick party which the kids LOVED! We packed up Sat morning and had an easy drive home. Avery and I listened to 8 chapters of Harry Potter and Tay chilled on his iPad and played some "Would You Rather" questions. It was so fun to be back home with Daddy, Uncle Du, Bingo and Otis.
It was one of our favorite Leland Summers - A month we will always remember! Til next year....
Bye Daddy and Du - Last Weekend Up North
On to Mackinac!!
