I cannot believe that Taylor is already 1 month old!! It's amazing how fast the time goes but it also feels like he has been here forever and we can't imagine our world without him.
We'll have his one month stats when he goes to the doctor in a couple weeks but I think he is around 8lbs so growing nicely since he came home at 6 lbs 4 oz.
Some highlights from the 1st month:
*Favorite Place to Sleep - On people and sometimes in the Rock N Play. He has a had a few good nights and some real terrible ones. We are hoping to trend towards good nights in the near future but not too hopeful..... :)
*Best Way to Calm Him - Put him in the carrier and walk around or bounce on the exercise ball.
* He loves taking his D-visol (we were told most babies hated it - but it appears he'll take anything out of a nipple!)
* He is starting to really enjoy bath time with daddy
* So far he hates the swing and bouncy seat - Just like his sister!
* His neck is really strong - When we do tummy time or have him in the carrier he can really pull that head up!
* He is growing out of his newborn clothes and starting to fit into 0-3 months.
* His hands and feet are HUGE in comparison to his body
* We are still trying to figure out who he looks like - So far we just see Taylor.
Avery has been an amazing big sister so far. She loves to greet him when she comes home from school and when he cries she runs and gets a paci to calm him. She is looking forward to having a "playmate" but I told her we have a while until then. So for now she is content to try to calm and "play" with her baby brother as best she can. We are very lucky!

Random Pics of Taylor's First Month
We have spent a lot of our time just hanging out at home while Taylor adjusts to the world. Here are some shots we took of him around the house.
Snuggling on Maternity Leave
Avery Keeping Busy
Avery has been keeping herself busy while Taylor is getting settled in. Some activities:
- She made a mask and we all pretended to be Super Heroes. Avery was Owlette.
- She hiked up her pants and acted silly with Daddy
- She has spent tons of time playing with Lila - Thank goodness for Bill, Marija and Lila!!
- She saw a bit of "I am Cait" and asked why a man was dressed up like a woman. So we sort of explained Transgender people and then she decided to dress up as "Bob".
- Playing with and reading to her new Bitty Babies from Aunt Amy
Acting Silly in High Pants
Introducing BOB
Posing for Daddy

Feeding Baby Taylor
Avery likes to help feed "Baby Brother" and loved giving him a bottle - I have been making a more concerted effort to pump and make sure Taylor is good at taking bottles!
A couple funny stories:
A couple funny stories:
- In the picture below, Avery is feeding her baby Cooper a bottle while I feed Taylor. We were debating naming Taylor either Taylor or Cooper and Avery was always firmly on team Taylor. Well, after he was born she says to us "Actually he looks more like a Cooper" and then named her baby doll Cooper since she now likes that name better.
- My mom took her to swimming class and she was telling the workers that she has a new baby brother. They asked if she ever helped feed him and she said "Well sometimes I help feed him but mostly he just sucks my mom's boob." They all tried to not laugh and tell her that was just great.
Avery in the Zionsville Fall Festival Parade
UHS had a spot in the Zionsville Fall Festival parade and Avery got to be in it - She was SO excited!! She decided to bring along Scooby Doo and was very into the whole thing. Taylor Newell pulled her in the wagon but she ended up walking most of it and loved passing out the candy. She discovered that one of the candies they were passing out was Hot Tamales and way too spicy. She decided that kids wouldn't like them so she picked them all out and gave them to Scooby instead. Taylor and I got a glimpse of her for a second but she barely paid attention to us :)
The next day we all ventured out to the Zionsville Fall Festival - Taylor did great on his outing and pretty much just slept in his carseat. I did have to feed him at one point in a dug out - Avery was a little embarrassed but I told her to get used to it. She had fun playing on the playground, going on some rides and bounce houses, eating an elephant ear and checking out the pet and police areas. It was a successful first family outing but we were a bit too busy to get too many pictures.....We got a couple before we left and Avery like that her, Taylor and daddy were all wearing hats. And Hung got a few of Avery enjoying the festival.
