U of M Weekend

I was planning to go to the U of M/OSU Bball game and we decided to last minute to make it a family trip - I am SO happy we did!!

We drove to Ann Arbor on Friday night and checked into Weber's Inn where I spent many weekends as a kid. We had a poolside room and Avery LOVED sitting on the balcony and checking out the activity in the pool. We got up Saturday morning and had breakfast at the hotel restaurant and Avery was then dying to get into the pool. We went for a swim and Avery had a blast doing jumps - she would close her eyes, puff up her cheeks and do this crazy counting thing on her fingers before each jump - Hung and I could not stop laughing.

After our swim we met up with Rebecca, Jordan and Ella for lunch. And then headed to the Hand's On Museum with Nader, Lauren, Mia and Zavier. The museum is much bigger and cooler than I remember and the kids played hard for 2 hours. Avery loved checking out the virtual tornado, the water/river feature, kitchen and fire truck. After the museum we ordered Olga's and had dinner at Nader and Lauren's. Avery had SO much fun playing with Mia - the girls did lots of dress up and got along great.

When we got back to the hotel Hung and I were exhausted but Avery was looking longingly at the pool and it was open for another 45 minutes. I gave in and  we finished the night with a swim - there were lots of big kids in the pool and Avery pretty much clung on to me and asked about what every kid was doing. Some kids were doing flips off the edge into the shallow end and I told her it was dangerous....She then asked if every jump or movement someone made was dangerous. We started Sunday with a final swim with Hung and she was really scared at first to jump in case it was "dangerous". Hung got her off that kick and she spent the next hour jumping in and also counting for Hung and making him jump in and try to land on the pink seahorse. Hung is a good Dad! Before we checked out, Avery played some video games in the game room - She told me she hated PacMan and preferred being the Wolf and playing Rampage.

Avery spent Sunday afternoon playing with Mia and Hung and I went to lunch and the bball game with Nader, Lauren and Sanjay. It was a great win for Michigan and Avery had fun with her new friend. Before we hit the road Nader did some magic tricks for Avery and Mia and Avery was totally, 100% fascinated. Nader gave her a magic wand and had her take the Magician's Oath before she left. Avery napped with the wand in the car and fell asleep with it that night.

It was such a fun weekend and I loved showing Weber's Inn and Ann Arbor to Avery. Can't wait to go back someday!!

1st Sleepover at G's

G has spent countless nights at our house (with and without us here) taking care of Avery. It's not unusual for G to sleep over on Saturday and then get up with Avery and go out for Pancakes so Hung and I can sleep in on Sunday. We are lucky to have her!

However, Avery has always been "too scared" to sleep at G's house "by herself". Over President's Day weekend we finally talked her into it and she had a blast. They played dress-up with towels and ribbons and then Avery got to sleep in G's bed. In the morning they went out for breakfast and to a special Dora Movie where they got to dance in the aisles and have popcorn. When I met up with them at lunch time Avery said she would FOR SURE sleep at G's again. Hung and I will not protest :)

Avery, What Is Valentine's Day?

We asked Avery what it means to be someone's Valentine and she said "It means you get married and then give each other cards." Avery also asked Hung to be her Valentine :)

Mini Photo Shoot

Hung took a little photo shoot of Avery before school the other morning and the pictures were so cute that I wanted to save them.

Dance Recital Costume

Avery's costume for tap/ballet recital in May arrived and she was able to try it on in class and then model it for us at home. She seems to be getting the steps down to their routine and I am excited to see her on the big stage in May.

Zach's First Birthday

Avery, G and I went to Zach's First Birthday Party at Monkey Joe's this afternoon. Avery had never been there and was excited to check it out. Avery and Brooke had a blast playing on all of the bounce houses and obstacle courses - both girls were sweaty and exhausted by the end!! During cake, they got to meet Monkey Joe and Avery ran right over and gave him a high five and huge hug.

We ended the day with dinner at Melting Pot - another huge success. She came home and told Hung we have to go back soon!! It was a busy and wonderful weekend - We have one happy and tired out girl :)
