- Avery has been into planning her birthday party (which will be in August). One of her plans is to have orange cake with green frosting and pink candles, lemonade, and chicken noodle soup. That will be some party!!
- She wants to be part of every conversation. If Hung and I are chatting she will say "What are you guys talking about?" over and over until we fill her in.
- Avery always says "Remember when....". Her memory is insane and nothing gets by her. She connects things in the present to things that happened a pretty long time ago. Her memory truly amazes me! For example, I told her Uncle Nate was coming to visit who she has not seen in over a year and she goes "Is he bringing instruments? Uncle Nate always places instruments with me." Which, he does...But no idea how she remembers that!
- A conversation between Avery and Aunt Maddie: Aunt Maddie wakes up in the morning and goes over to Avery who is sitting on the couch:
- Maddie: Morning Avery.
- Avery: Hiiiii (unsurely). Who are you?
- Maddie: Avery!! You know who I am.
- Avery: Are you Aunt Maddie?
- Maddie: Yes it's me, I am just wearing glasses (takes them off)
- Avery: Oh, sorry! The glasses threw me off
- She has developed a fear of bugs. There was a spider in the car one day and Aunt Maddie killed it for her. She was still freaked out and talked about the spider for 2 days.
- Avery LOVES to swing. It's all she wants to do at the park. And is still pretty scared on slides but we are working on it. She is not the most adventurous par goer.
- Some common phrases: "I can't believe it!", "You're making me frustrated!!" and (after asking what something is) "OH, I wish I could do that. Maybe when I am older."
- We were swinging and she said "Remember when I used to suck your boob and get milk. Remember that mama? And then I drank it all. We should get some more milk to put back in."
- I hurt my finger and she said "Don't worry mama. It will heal in 2 months." She is always asking if things will heal and telling us to go to the supermarket to get more.
- We transitioned to a Big Girl Bed this month - When getting back from vacation she was really resisting sleeping in her crib (since she had spent the week in Michigan sleeping with me) and always wanting to "Sleep somewhere else, like G's bed" when it was time to go to sleep. So we moved her to the toddler bed but it has not been a huge help. She is fine in there and doesn't leave the bed until we are in the room. But, she is still fighting bed time and having wake-ups around 4 am where she says she had a bad dream about monsters and needs to go sleep in "G's bed." When we give in, it never goes well for anyone involved so we are working through some sleep issues at the moment.
- After Easter, Avery was loving "Marshmallow Peeps". So one morning she asked me for one and I said "No, you can have one after dinner for dessert." I go upstairs to get ready and come back down and she's eating Peep. She told Hung that I said she could have one so he gave in. And as she's eating it, she tells Hung "Mama gonna be mad at me. I am not supposed to have this." Haha.
- This morning she announced that she was done with Paci's and doesn't need them anymore. She proceeded to gather them all up and throw them in the garbage in her bedroom. My gut says that decision lasts until bedtime tonight but we'll see. Maybe we are at least getting closer to being fully rid of the Paci! (Update - This lasted less than 12 hours :))
- Avery is just like me - LOVES to have her feet, back and arms rubbed. And oddly also loves to have her armpits scratched.
- She also has a VERY sensitive sense of smell and is quick to tell you when something smells bad. Like if she doesn't like how your food smells she'll tell you to have the waitress take it away. And is really dramatic about it ("EEEWWWWW!!")
- Avery held up her sign and then wanted to show off her painted nails this month (and she picked out her dress and shoes which she thought looked great together)
