It is Spirit Week at Avery's school. Monday was Pajama Day (and I forgot to take a pic but it was really just Avery in her night gown :). Then they decided to add another Pajama Day since the kids loved it so much and it was also Crazy Hair Day. Avery wanted as many pony tails as possible. She had quite the MSW spirit this morning!

First trip to the Pumpkin Patch - With more to come soon!!
Lila's family invited us to the Pumpkin Patch last Sunday. Hung was golfing but Avery and I joined them and the girls had so much fun. They did the slide, cow train, corn maze (which we got totally lost in and had to go out the entrance), hay ride, pumpkin decorating, face painting and also played in the "corn box" (rather than a sand box). There were kernels of corn found ALL over the house the next day but she was having so much fun that it was worth it.
Looking forward to going back this weekend with the Boltons :) I had to drag Avery out so am sure we will be making several trips this fall.

Lila's 4th Birthday Party
Avery had a blast at Lila's 4th Birthday last weekend at Recreation Unlimited. The kids ran around basically non-stop but did take a break for cake and tattoos. Avery just loves Lila and I am so happy they are in the same class at school and get to play together everyday.
Wives and Haircuts
I was having trouble keeping up with my monthly updates so am just going to post randomly when Avery says or does things that I don't want to forget.
Story 1: Hung and Avery were driving to school and Avery was asking about Wives and trying to figure out what a Wife is. "So who is your wife, Daddy?". "My wife is Rachael". "Ohh - Who is Mommy's wife? Is G mommy's wife?". He corrected her that G is Papa's wife. And then she asked "Who else doesn't have a wife?" Hung says: "Uncle Du doesn't have a wife." Avery responds: "Oh that's right, he has Otis instead." And then she was convinced that KJ is Uncle Cullen's wife and Hung explained the difference between a wife and girlfriend. I love the morning drive to school conversations that occur!
Story 2: Hung got a haircut yesterday and when Avery got home she gave him the oddest look like he was a total freak and said: "Uhhhhh...Where's the right Daddy? You're the wrong Daddy!" She asked what happened to his head - Then she was OK with it once Hung said he got a haircut.

Avery's 3 Year Check Up
We went to the doctor today for Avery's 3 Year Check Up. All looks good - She decided to turn into a cat named Finn while we were in the exam room and she was using a pretend litter box and having me clean it for 20+ minutes. Awesome! She was able to answer all of Dr. Robinson's questions but there were lots of "meow's" thrown in during the visit. Stats are:
- Height: 39 1/2 inches (90th percentile)
- Weight: 40 lbs (95th percentile)
- Head: 18 cm (92nd percentile)
Here are some other random "Avery-isms" at the moment :)
- Avery loves to play "tricks" on people. Like she'll say "Oh mama, I am not going to take a bath." and then she'll pause and smile and say "TRICK!!!!!!". And she likes to have us play "tricks" on her, too. And she loves to tell jokes, too and will say "JOOOKE.". If I ever call a Joke a Trick or vice versa, she corrects me.
- Her current hairstyle is a half french braid - It's all she wants to wear everyday. I have been practicing and am getting better at it. If I try to do anything else, she is NOT happy. She says it makes her look like Elsa.
- Avery now loves ballet - After a rough first class she has really take to tap and ballet. Avery and G love their Wednesday nights together. I took a peek a few weeks ago and watched her twirl around the room and she looked like she was really into it and having a blast.
- We are still very much into pretend - Current favorites are Maddie and Jeff, Hannah and Ella (plus Jordan and Barney) and her school friends (usually Lila, Alicia, and Jade).
- One of her jokes is calling everything "Blah Blah" - So I'll be reading a book and she'll tell me to switch the character's name to "Blah Blah". And then after a minute she gets annoyed and tells me to stop it and call them by their real name.
- She has learned her Right and Left at school and ballet and likes to sing the Hokey Pokey.
- Avery loves to sing her ABC's and has reversed the J and K to be KJ (which is what we call Kristen - Cullen's girlfriend :))
- I think we are done with night time diapers - She has been dry every night for about a month and I just need to get brave enough to stop using the pull ups.

Busy Fall Weekend
We had a really fun and busy weekend with perfect weather! On Friday, we had a picnic dinner at West Park with G. On Saturday, Hung, Avery and I went to Stuckey's Orchard - Avery is finally old enough and loved all the activities they had for kids. We ended the trip with a hay ride around the orchard and picked some apples. After nap, we went to Henry and Holden's birthday party. It was a carnival theme and Leah did such a great job with tons of games for the kids to play, they would win tickets and then could turn them in for prizes. I think Avery was most interested in all the carnival food and the bounce house. The kids had so much fun playing in the yard and she would have stayed all night if we let her! On Sunday, we had the MSW Fall Picnic and Avery got to play with her school friends and Hung and I got to visit with the teachers and parents. I didn't take any pics on Sunday but Avery had a blast and took over a 3 hour name when we left so I know she had fun.
Phew - Busy but lots of good times!

Stuckey's
Henry and Holden's Party - The kids group picture did not go so well but Avery liked the Clown Nose :)
Conner Prairie with G
Last weekend G and I took Avery to Conner Prairie. She loved it and I realized I should take her more often as it is not far from our house. Before heading outside Avery gave us an awesome puppet show and did lots of dress-up. Then we saw the barn animals and headed to Prairietown - Avery is obsessed with playing in the kitchen of the Doctor's House. The volunteers who all pretend like it's 1836 make me a little crazy but Avery pretty much ignores them and does her own thing.
Then we ended the day stopping at the fall Apple Store and Avery chose a giant chocolate covered marshmallow for her treat. It was a fun way to spend a Sunday!

Peace Day
They celebrated Peace Day at Avery's School. I was able to attend and the kids sang songs and then the older kids read poems and speeches they wrote about what Peace means to them. Avery showed me her artwork where they asked all the kids what Peace means to them - Avery wrote "My family, my pretend dog, my pretend cat, and playing." This poos child really wants a live pet.....
I wasn't able to get great pictures as I was with Avery most of the time but it was a very sweet ceremony and Avery has been singing "All we are saying is give peace a chance". Very sweet!

3 Year Update (36 Months)
Here are some cute and fun things from Month 36 (3 YEARS OLD - WOW!)
- Avery has an awesome meltdown this month. She had refused to nap and then Hung was playing with her around 4 and she lost it. She had come back from the pool and would not put clothes on so was totally naked this whole time. She told Hung to sell EVERYTHING. She said "Sell my bed, sell my clothes, sell my chair, sell my lamp, sell my blankets, sell EVERYTHING. I want NOFTING! All I want is Pacis, Shows and Snacks! SELL EVERYTHING". Then she crawled behind her rocker and fell asleep buck naked for over 2 hours.
- We were playing school and she was the teacher. She was telling Hung and me what our work for the day was and then suddenly stopped and said "My work is I have to go poop."
- She has had a recent fascination with Hannah and Ella (my friend Rebecca's girls). She keeps telling us she is Hannah and I am Ella and Hung is "George"/Jordan. And whatever dog happens to around is Barney. Every time we would see someone new she would whisper to me "Tell them I am Hannah." And she'll say to me: "Pretend you are Ella and you are small. Now talk like Ella." They are coming to visit in October and am sure Avery will have a blast playing with her idols :)
- Sometimes she'll say "You see what I mean?" or "You see what I am saying?".
- She tells toddler jokes (that are totally not funny) and then goes "KIDDING". Avery loves to play tricks. Like she'll have G babysit and then I'll come home and my mom will say "Avery refused to take her bath or put on her jammies". And then Avery jumps out and says "KIDDING! TRIIIICK!"
- Avery kept talking about her friend Sylvia from school. We did not think there was a Sylvia (which Avery pronounces "Syldia"). And then it turned out there was so she keeps asking us "Now do you believe me about Syldia."
- If she does something wrong she'll always ask us "Do you forgive me?". And if she spills something or drops something on accident she'll ask "Are you mad at me?" and then look at us and say "That doesn't look like a mad face." (I always say "Does this look like a mad face" and smile when she is worried I am mad about something that I am not mad about)
- Avery will tell us "You can't call people fat. Instead, call them beautiful". And when you ask her what makes someone beautiful she says "Being kind". She is also accepting the fact that boys can be beautiful, too.
- She is in size 10 shoes and size 4/5 clothing (moving more into the 5/girls department)
