Sick Days

We made it through Avery's first real fever/flu bug. She woke up on Sunday and felt extremely warm and I knew something was wrong - All day Sunday and Monday her fever would spike back up to around 102 when her tylenol wore off and she had zero appetite (VERY unlike her). I ended up taking her to the doctor and found out she also had an ear infection. I know the poor thing was not feeling good but she was incredibly sweet and snuggly and took tons of long naps. After lots of TLC and sleep, she was back to herself by Tuesday. When the tylenol kicked in she would get some energy and really liked walking around in her rain boots, playing with oven mitts, the tylenol syringe and the thermometer. She also got extra Paci privileges and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse episodes which she loved and we are now weaning her off of again (which she does not love).

We are all glad to have her healthy and back to normal!! When Hung dropped her off at daycare today she was so excited to play with her friends - she was getting bored of us :)

17 Month Update

Here are some fun, cute and new things in Month 17:
  • She is still loving Mickey - She used to call it Minnie and now it's more like "Mick-tey". We have tried to show her some other shows for Hung's and my sanity but she watches for a couple minutes and then brings us the remote and asks for "Mick-tey". Over the holidays while we were making long drives she got lots of Mickey in the car and now asks for it whenever she gets in her car seat. She is typically told "no" but you can't blame her for trying!
  • Avery does this really sweet thing that Hung and I love. She walks over and takes both of our hands and then leads us somewhere. Typically it's to her tent where she wants us to get in and play with her or she wants us all to dance. She will also try to close our laptops if we are working and she wants our attention.
  • She is really into "big kids" and will stare at them, copy them and try to mimic everything they do.
  • We hear new words all the time - some we are hearing a lot lately are Pig, Bee, Cheese, "1,2,3eeeee", "Pease" for please, monkey, "nana" for banana, bow (even though she won't wear them she likes to talk about them), Goofy, horse, shoes, cut, "wa wa" (water), color, "upa" (up), hat, and the list goes on.....
  • Avery likes playing with Apps on the iPad. She loves the Itsy Bitsy spider one and will ask for "Itsy" and make the spider climbing up the spout motion. Or The Wheels on the Bus - she'll say "bu" and roll her hands to make the motion.
  • She likes dancing and singing - her teachers tell us that she always gets really into the songs and dances that they do and she also loves circle time and reading. When they are done, she will take the book from them and mock read it back.
  • Avery likes to go get her coat and hand you yours when she's ready to leave the house. And when we say it's time for school she runs to the door and waits for us.
  • She knows when she's being funny and we get lots of good smiles and laughs all the time.
  • Avery really loves her tent and tunnel and still enjoys her baby dolls, her kitchen, and her rocking horses. And still loves her books.
  • She is in mostly 24 mos and 2T clothes and size 6 shoes.
  • When we got back from vacation she decided to become an awesome sleeper. Holding our breath and hoping this lasts!
  • I can't believe we are almost to 1.5 years old! She is growing so fast.
Avery really didn't want to have her picture taken this month - although she really wanted to be wearing her Hello Kitty rain boots. She is recovering from a fever and earache and wasn't happy!!

A Weekend with Jill and John

Jill and John came to Indy for the weekend to visit and we had so much fun seeing both of them. On Friday, Jill, John and I went to a basketball game after dinner where Jill knew some of the players and students from a camp she worked at last summer. Avery had a night in with Dad.

On Saturday we went and visited Mike and April Knowles and met their son Emmett. Avery enjoyed all the toys in their basement and had fun tooling around on different cars and bikes. After lunch and a nap we went to an early dinner. Both kids did great at the restaurant - they didn't eat much but they had fun coloring at the table. After dinner we gave both kids a bath and they laughed a ton.  Avery thought John was pretty cool and laughed at a lot of stuff he did or tried to mimic him.

It was such a great weekend but then poor Avery woke up with a fever on Sunday morning and has been out of sorts all day. So it's been a quiet Sunday filled with naps, snuggles and some extra Mickey. Hopefully she is back to herself tomorrow!!

Thanks to Jill and John for making the trip to visit us.

Avery taught John her bad TV watching habits. We now pause the show to make her go sit in her chair

Avery's First Haircut

Avery is refusing to keep any sort of bow or rubber-band in her hair - and her bangs completely cover her eyes. So I caved and took her to Mel for a trim of the bangs. The change is subtle but we can see here eyes! I hope she'll start letting me pull her hair back so we can grow those bangs out but until then we'll keep trimming so the little girl can see :)

Weekind in Peoria

We headed to Peoria for the weekend to visit Grandma and Grandpa Trieu. Avery did amazingly in the car both ways - lots of napping and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse did the trick. And she also slept the best she every has in her Pack N Play - We even got a solid 12 hours on Saturday night which she doesn't even do at home. We mostly hung around, played with toys (Avery loved the Animal books that Grandma bought and the little kid-sized chair) and explored all the stuff in Grandma and Grandpa's house. We did venture out to the mall a bit on Saturday and had lunch at a local pizza joint before we left on Sunday. Grandma made lots of good food for us on Friday and Saturday - Avery especially liked the Wontons and Blueberry muffins! We know it meant a lot to Grandma and Grandpa to have us there and we were glad we made the trip.

We forgot our good camera but Hung snapped a couple shots on his iPhone.

Let's Go Blue - 16-0!

We had everyone over to watch Michigan try and go 17-0. We fell a few points short to OSU but still had fun hanging out the family. Avery did not like getting her picture taken and preferred playing with Uncle Cullen.

A Playful Weekend

Avery has been very busy playing this weekend! On Friday she played with her friends at Playgroup and that night we went to the UHS Boys Basketball game. She was made an Honorary Cheerleader and even got her own set of pom-poms!! She loves going to the games and watching the Cheerleaders, finding the ball, and listening and dancing to the band. She also enjoys hanging out inside lockers - girl loves her small spaces.

On Saturday Parker came over to play. They had a lot of fun exploring all of Avery's toys, going for a walk on this 60 degree January day and reading together. Parker enjoyed picking up Avery (and she liked it too!).

Tonight we had Mike, Poonam, Savera, Courtney, Mary and Ava over for dinner. The nine of us have not been together since September so a play date was WAY over due. The girls had fun playing with all of Avery's toys, watching Mickey Mouse and just running around and being crazy. We tried to get them all on the couch together for some photos - they were pretty wiggly and Savera wanted her mom but we got some cute ones. It was a great night with great friends. Avery crashed about 5 minutes after they left...It was a busy but very fun day for our girl!

Cheerleader Avery!

Fun with Parker!

Fun with Savera and Ava
