Happy 1st Memorial Day!

It was so great to have a long weekend with Avery. We started the weekend a little early -  I took most of Friday off and was able to take Avery to play group with my mom friends. Hung's parents and brother came to visit. Trinh was very busy in the kitchen cooking for us all and she got up with Avery early on Sunday so Hung and I both got to sleep in - such a treat! On Saturday we tried out the new baby pool - Avery HATED it. Whenever we have walked out in the backyard the past two days she clutches us and starts whimpering. I am hoping it's the zebra pool that scares her and she'll start liking being in the water.  She loves bath time so I am thinking it will grow on her eventually.

Hung and Du got a couple rounds of golf in (despite the crazy heat!) and Avery and I had lots of fun hanging out with my mom after Trinh and Quang left.

It was a fun weekend and great to spend it with our families.

On our way to playgroup

HATING the pool - very thankful when we took her out!

Dinner time

Below are some videos of typical dinner time at the Trieu household. Avery tried Raspberries for the first time and had lots of fun hanging out in her highchair.

Avery's Sleepover at Grandma T and Grandpa's House

Hung and I spent last weekend with my mom in Royal Oak packing and cleaning out Grammy's house. It was a very emotional and exhausting task - we had some good laughs and tears as we went over the past 30+ years of her life. Luckily, we got everything done and all of her belongings are in storage - now we just need Grammy to finish re-hab and move down here with us. We are so excited to get her to Indy!

Avery spent the weekend at Grandma T and Grandpa's house in Grand Rapids. It's the first time she has been away from both Hung and me at night and she did GREAT! We were told she was literally the perfect baby and was not fussy at all. She had so much fun playing with her Grandparents, Aunt Maddie, Uncle Nate and getting to meet her Great-Grandparents for the first time. While we missed hanging out with everyone it was comforting to know she was in good hands and was giving lots of good smiles and laughs all around.

Avery can't wait for her next sleepover!!

First Mother's Day

Thanks to Hung and Avery, I had a wonderful 1st Mother's Day. To start the weekend off, Avery and I did the March of Dimes walk with Mike, Poonam and Savera. On Saturday night, Hung and I went out to dinner downtown for a surprise 30th Birthday party for our friend Courtney. Avery had her first real babysitter (meaning not my mom) and did pretty well. Carolyn Bradley took care of Avery and said she was great through dinner but got a bit fussy around bed time.

On the actual Mother's Day I got to sleep in and Hung and Avery brought me breakfast in bed. And then we had a great afternoon at the Park. I ended the day with a massage - I have not had one since having Avery so that was a real treat! It was a very peaceful and relaxing day. I also got some great 1st Mother's Day cards from my Mom, Aunt Amy and Jill. And I got a framed picture of Avery and me from her school which was very sweet.

I am so luck to have Avery and it was fun to celebrate being her mom.

Avery's Friends

Avery and I went to a playdate on Friday with all of our friends from my "Mom's Group". There are 12 moms and 13 babies (we have one set of twins). I feel so lucky to have met this group of women and all of their adorable babies. We didn't know anyone but my family when we moved here right before Avery was born and it's made me feel so happy and calm knowing I have this new support system of friends who are going through the same things as me. Having friends has really made Indy start to feel like home.

I hope we all stay close and that our Bakers Dozen can grow up together.

It took a few takes but we eventually got a pretty good one.

Below are some shots of Avery playing with her friends and making her foot print craft for Mother's Day. I wanted her to do a hand one but she kept grabbing the dough and putting her whole hand through it.

Bye-Bye

Avery has learned a new trick - waving "bye bye". She picked it up a couple days ago and now is doing it constantly. She waves bye-bye when eating any meal and when I went in to check on her at 4 am last night she ended up smiling at me and waving. She took a buggy ride at daycare and was waving to all the "big kids". And today we were at a playgroup with friends and she was nursing and some people were leaving so everyone was saying bye and Avery stuck her hand in the air and started waving bye-bye while nursing. You can just tell she is very proud of herself for learning this new trick. She cracks me up!

Fun At The Park

We took Avery to the Park this evening and she loved the swings, crawling through the tube and going down the slide. She didn't like her swing as an infant so we were excited to see her enjoy on so much today. Can't wait to take her back!
