7 Month Update

Avery turned 7 months old yesterday! Here is what she is up to in Month 7:

• Finally starting to get some more hair - not enough for a bow but getting thicker 
• Avery is starting to really enjoy solids. She is eating 2 "meals" a day and so far has tried green beans, peas, sweet potatoes, squash, carrots, pears, apples and bananas. We have done a mix of making our own and buying Earth's Best. Next up is Avocado. She seems to like veggies more than fruits so far.
• She is getting very close to crawling - She rocks back and forth on all fours and can move backwards. We think forward crawling is coming very soon!
• Avery babbles a ton and says "dadada" the most. I am working on "mamama" :)
• She does this thing when she's in her high chair where if you hit the table with your palm she mimics you. My Dad first discovered this when we were out to eat last weekend and she continues to do it.
• Avery is VERY busy - Always moving, reaching for everything and putting anything she can in her mouth. Changing her diaper is quite the task now as she immediately flips on to her belly and reaches for anything she can get her hands on.
• She got her first real illness this past week - Pink eye and a double ear infection. She handled it well but HATED the eye drops. We had her re-checked today and all looks normal so it's time to get tough and get her back to her normal sleep routine as the ear infection had her waking up a lot more than normal.
• Avery still loves her jumparoo. Her other favorite toys are her stacking rings and shape blocks. She pretty much likes anything hard that she can chew on. She also likes books and being read to. 
• She is wearing anywhere from 6 mos to 12 mos clothing depending on the brand.
• It is impossible to keep socks on her feet - she pulls them off as fast as she can and then chews on them. She also likes to put her feet in her mouth...She's a funny girl.
• Avery has 4 teeth and the cutest, toothy smile! 
• She loves anything with strings or straps - If you are wearing a hooded sweatshirt she is happy to pull and chew on the strings. She loves the straps on her high chair and car seat a lot, too!
• Avery seems like she is starting to know her name.
• She laughs a lot and Hung is the best at making her giggle. Uncle Du is pretty good at it, too
• Avery is a happy, healthy and VERY BUSY 7 month old!

Spring Weekend with Family and Friends

The weekend started with Grams having to have surgery. Thankfully, everything went as smoothly as it could go and she is home and recovering. We are hoping that this is the last surgery that she'll ever have to have!! Unfortunately, she can't lift Avery for the next 6 weeks - but we'll make sure she still gets lots of good Avery time and we'd rather have her fully recover than take any chances.

Grandma T, Grandpa and Aunt Maddie also came to visit for the weekend. We went out to dinner both nights and Avery did SO well at the restaurants. She ate her dinner and played happily the whole time. She had a lot of fun mimicking Grandpa "hitting" the table. We also got to spend time outside enjoying the weather. It was so fun having them here and we are always sad to see them go.

On Sunday, we went over to Mike and Poonam's for a BBQ. Avery have fun playing with Savera and Ava. The girls are just growing so fast!! It will be so fun when they are old enough to play with each other but right now they are pretty cute just sitting on the couch together and babbling. For some reason Avery got spooked at one point and just lost it!

We got Avery all dressed up for Spring on Sunday and tried to take pictures but she was much more interested in chewing on her new shoes.....

Great Weekend with Great Friends

We were so excited to have Jill, Josh and Du visit this past weekend. The boys went to the Black Keys concert on Friday night and got in 18 holes of golf on Saturday. Jill and I had fun hanging out with Avery and enjoying the nice weather. 

We spent Saturday afternoon watching the NCAA games and Avery did great at the restaurant. She played in her high chair and then took a long nap in Dad's lap.

It was such a fun weekend!! We already miss our friends and can't wait for another visit.

Happy St. Patrick's Day 2012

Avery is all ready for St. Patrick's Day - She took Mint Ghirardelli's to her teachers at school and is all dressed up in green wearing her new outfit from Gram's.
