An Ann Arbor Girls Weekend

For my birthday this year, G treated Avery and me to a an amazing Girls Weekend in Ann Arbor. And it was truly PERFECT!

  • Friday - Dinner with the Boltons at Palios (An old fave) and then a Michigan Hockey Game. Avery's first and it was a fun one - We beat Penn State in a shoot out! Avery had fun sitting with Ella and they decided they have a crush on the current goalie.
  • Saturday we shopped a little and then headed to the Men Basketball Game - We had amazing seats and saw them crush UCLA by 30 points. After the game, we stuck around to watch the Press Conferences and Avery got to meet Nimari, Aday and LJ (I attempted selfies and clearly need to take lessons from Avery as mine were all HORRID). And we got to see Dusty and he waved and thanked the fans! It was SO cool! The players could NOT have been nicer or more gracious.
  • After the game, we explored the State Street area and shopped. Saturday night we met up with the Hutson's, walked campus a bit and had dinner at Pizza House. The kids had so much fun being together and we loved catching up with Linde and Bryan.
  • Sunday we had brunch with Jeff Groulx (who we somehow ran into on Saturday - we thank Chuckee). Then we did more shopping (and spent WAY too much money at Rally House), had lunch at Zingermans (Avery's first time at the actual deli) and then met up with the Hutsons again for the Mich/MSU Girls BBall game - we saw ANOTHER win and then had dinner at Chili's per Frankie's request. Avery and Luke had some super cheesy Mozzarella Sticks!
  • Monday we checked out and went to the UofM campus tour. We had the BEST guide who was basically Avery's clone (Out of State, Bi-Racial, went to Small High School, Poli Sci Major and wants to be a social justice lawyer). So we hit the jackpot there and it was an awesome tour that gave Avery a great feel for life on Campus.
  • We ended with lunch at Olga's and then got home to our boys and dogs.
  • Again, a PERFECT weekend and we are SO thankful to G for spoiling us!
  • GO BLUE!

Surviving January

January felt like it lasted 3 months....There was TONS of snow and super cold temps. Lots of Snow days and 2 hour Delays and lazy times at home as it was too icy and cold to be outside. We managed to have SOME fun.

  • Celebrated my 45th Birthday with a lovely dinner out, ice cream cake and awesome gifts
  • Bingo and Axel were accidentally locked in Hung's office so we had to break through the screen and save them! Tay had the honors of climbing through the (thankfully) unlocked window.
  • Discovered the slides at Slick City
  • Snuggled with the doggies
  • Had lots of sleepovers with Jaden including sledding and playing in the snow
  • Avery sang the National Anthem at a WHS Game
  • Tay had a fun end to the season of WYSI Basketball. His team improved a TON and had some fun wins to end the year!
  • Tay discovered Murdle thanks to G and spent a week doing logic puzzles non stop!
  • Avery, Claire and I got massages
  • Avery cheered on the UHS Girls BBall team at the sectional semi-finals with Areen and Brooke!
  • WE SURVIVED!
