The Last Day of School

1st and 5th grade came to a close this week. It was a rough year for Taylor with a super unegnaged teacher so he was thrilled to reach the end! When the elementary bus arrived, the parents were ready with 100's of water balloons and water guns. After that died down, everyone headed to our house for our annual ice cream sundae bar party. Avery's bus came an hour later - she had an amazing year and somehow no tears when she the got off the bus! The little kids were ready to pelt them with water balloons (a couple even made their way through open windows ON to the bus - YIKES!). And then we served all the big kids ice cream to celebrate an awesome year!

After that, we headed to the Strohman's for some pool time and the Donnelson's for burgers. Baby Ben joined us for a bit, too and I LOVED being able to babysit!! Avery camped out with some neighbors and watched the Mario Movie outside. Hung, Tay and I were exhausted and it felt good to crash. Bring on SUMMER!

Field Day Fun!

Cullen organized the first Field Day at the Intermediate School in a LONG time. He did an outstanding job - There were 8 stations including a bunch involving water/sponges and the kids had a blast. I volunteered to run the relay race station - My throat is sore tonight after yelling out instructions and cheering the kids on. It was the perfect next-to-last day of school for those 5th and 6th graders. Avery's class came to my station and, of course, they were my faveorite group. Am happy I got to volunteer and be a part of the fun!

Mini-Golf and Picnic

Avery had simply the best 5th grade teachers EVER! They ended the year by inviting parents in to play the 18 hole mini-golf course they created. As part of the project, they had to calculate areas and use geometry to determine how to score a hole in one. It turned out AMAZING - It was so creative! Hung and I both went in to volunteer to help them build their holes - they were all so into it and it was amazing to see the finished products. Uncle Cullen also stopped by to check it all out - It was cute to see the kids whisper "Mr. Webster is Avery's Uncle!" After golf, we went through Avery's Portfolio for the year and saw all her growth - She truly kicked butt across the board! She never gives herself credit for being god at math but socred in the 95th precentile in her spring testing - Now we just have to work on her confidence as she has the skills!

Next, we watched a video commemorating the school year. The kids loved it and were giggling and chatting about each photo. It was really interesting to see all the projects and cool things they did all year. We ended the celebration with a picnic. Mrs. Robison brought over her RV "Dolly". The kids were able to explore inside and take selfies. The teachers also brought in yard games and we had a big, family picnic with all of her classmates. A truly magical year that Avery will remember forever. I am in denial that she only has a few more days left with them but SO grateful for the incredible year they gave Avery.

TPT Presents High School Musical!

Avery performed in her 4th TPT show this weekend as a "Skater Dude" in High School Musical. It was a huge cast and she had tons of good friends in the show with her. It was a tiring Tech Week driving back and forth from Marion M-Th from 4:30-9 but she toughed it out and had a blast. She looked gorgeous on stage and I really loved watching her in the finale song with her expressive face and dance moves. So grateful she has found her people in theater!

Her teacher Mrs. Robison and Ashley were able to come see her on opening. G came to 3 shows with me!! And Hung, Tay and Papa came Saturday night to cheer her on. She has a lot of people that really love her!!
