Fun in French Lick

The kids and I spent the weekend at West Baden with G - The UHS Girls were in the final four about 45 minutes away so we made a fun trip out of it. Sadly the girls lost but we had so much fun eating in the giant atrium, swimming and hanging in the hotel room (along with some room service on our 2nd night).

We had a late dinner on Friday after we arrived and then snuggled in and fell asleep pretty quickly. On Saturday morning we had a fun breakfast where Tay spent the whole time having different utensils, cups, plates and napkins  battle each other and we had to guess who would win. He also told us a ton about his school - Sang a song about how each letter sounds and our favorite was "Opera" where he accompanied it with a really cute opera-esque gesture. We also learned how has to go to the "bad" chair and what it takes to get stickers for good behavior each day (he kept saying you can't punch and kick - we assume you need to do more than that to get a sticker??). He was really expressive and cute about it. Then we spent the afternoon at the pool - Avery was so sweet teaching Tay how to swim and making up games and characters to make it more fun. I even ventured in and played for a bit and we all ended in the hot tub. The game was rough but the kids were great. When we got back to the hotel we were spent so we ordered pizza to the room and played Go Fish before snuggling in.

It was a smooth trip home and G and I got to listen to the Mich-OSU bball game on the drive which was INTENSE and AMAZING! A great way to end the weekend!

Hung had tons of work to do so he couldn't make the trip - He also got lots done around the house. And was happy to have us home. Sunday night we watched the 2nd Harry Potter movie since Avery and I finished the book. On to book 3!

Snow Fun!

We FINALLY got a good old fashioned, Midwest Snow Storm. Avery got a couple days at home and some late starts. Neither kid had any interest in playing outside as the windchill was pretty bitter. But we did have fun making Snow Ice Cream and adding in some sprinkles and crushed up Thin Mints. We spent lots of time snuggling in Bed and Avery and I made it through the first 2 Harry Potter books!

Oh and Avery joined a Band at Bach to Rock as a singer. She LOVED her first rehearsal.

Tay Update

Tay has been having a chill month and enjoying quarantine life - He just loves to be at home so this is really no big deal for him :) When it snowed Avery was so excited to go out and play with friends and Tay said "I am not really a snow guy" LOL.

He learned how to play Yahtzee last weekend which is listed as 8+ and he totally picked it up and was doing awesome with the math. When he rolled for 6's he said "Well 6+6 is 12 so I have to do 12+12. 2 tens in 20 and 2 2's is 4 so it's 24". He blows me away!

He is also now playing songs with 2 hands on the piano!! I am super impressed at how far he has come and he plops down every night and practices with no complaints. Tay is also still enjoying pokemon cards, Nintendo switch, and games. One game he taught us if putting a bunch of objects on a tray, then take one away and everyone else has to guess what was removed. It's harder than you think and we have had fun playing it.

And, of course, he still loves snuggling with Bingo!!

Bubble Gum Girl

Avery was thrilled that acting class was offered again. She jumped at the chance to work on her acting skills and be in a short play. She created a character called Bubble Gum Girl and did a great job in the play. They also showed us some of their warm ups that were really cute including "Got It" which she learned from Uncle Nate. Only I was able to attend but it was on zoom so her grandparents, aunts and uncles also got to watch along with Hung and Tay. Good Job Aves!

Sweet Avery J

A few Avery things I wanted to capture as she is truly the sweetest!

  • I got a message from a Mom in Avery's class. Her daughter was embarrassed after some kids teased her for her see through pants - Avery said "you don't have to tell me why you were embarrassed but remember that one time in Art class when someone farted. WELLL it might have been me." That got Nora laughing and she felt much better.
  • In Art they are creating their United States concepts and Avery is creating the United States of Feminism. Her teacher loves it!
  • Avery came home after her Valentine's Day party at school and I just LOVE her choices. I am honored to have made the list but was edged out by Mashed Potatoes.
  • They are moving some kids to an additional class next week to account for more kids opting out of eLearning. Avery organized a card drive for the two girls that are moving and had all the friends make them cards and surprise them on their desk to wish them well and tell them they will be missed. She is such a kind and thoughtful friend.
