COVID19 Quarantine Week #2

We survived our 2nd full week of Quarantine - It was busy with all 4 adults having to work remotely and Avery having a full week of eLearning but we also had some fun and got lots of quality time together as a family!

Some highlights included:
  • Tay getting a haircut at "Quarantine Cuts" which Avery named and worked as the assistant.
  • Lots of puzzles and games (Monopoly Jr. and Go Fish are the current favorites). There has also been lots of pretend play with American Girl Dolls (Avery has two that are named Hannah who she calls Anna and Tennie. Taylor named his Junior and Emily. They are constantly being cared for, put down for naps, fed, needing to be babysat, etc.). They are also liking to play pretend bowling with my foam roller and Taylor as the bowling ball :) Dancing, plays and music are also a daily activity. Also playing "doctor" and "vet" are a good pastime!
  • G, Avery and Tay have been putting on nightly plays to all of Maurice Sendak's songs like A Alligators All Around, Pierre, and Chicken Soup with Rice.
  • We had a Social Distance Science Experiment with our neighbors. Our one neighbor is a Kindergarten Teacher and is running these a couple times a week. The kids made Lava Lamps at this first one - so fun!
  • Zooming with family and friends. We had a good chat with Grandma T, Grandpa, Nate, Debbie, Maddie and Eddie. And I had 90210 trivia with friends that Jill ran which was fun!
  • Avery learned to ride a bike!!!! And we were able to see Uncle Cullen and Aunt KJ and Papa staying 6 feet apart outside :)
  • We had some good treats including baking Banana Bread and getting a decorate your own donut kit from Jacks YUM!!
  • We decorated for Easter and have started doing some egg hunts.
  • Lots of snuggles with Bingo and Otis to keep us all happy :)

COVID19 Quarantine Week #1

Well the world certainly has changed in the last week and half - I am going to do weekly updates of our quarantine so Avery and Tay can look back and see how we survived this madness. I hope their memories will be happy and that we can make the most of this time together - It's scary and uncertain and unprecedented in our lifetime so while I want them to be aware of what's happening (and how horrible our president is), I also went them to be kids! Aunt Maddie has moved her wedding to August, our spring break trip to Orange Beach was cancelled, Avery's theater class and performance was cancelled - So we have had some disappointments but we know how lucky we are to have each other to lean on during this craziness.

Indiana is locked down until at least April 7th and school is out until at least May 1st. G, Uncle Du and Otis are quarantining with us which is wonderful. We all still have to work so it's great to have 4 adults to help keep the kids occupied. And to have each other to be with and not feel along during this weird time.

Some highlight from Week 1:

Taylor made up a game called "Worm" where we become worms and roll around

Avery has been kicking butt at e-learning - She has her workstation and has been so devoted to getting every assignment done correctly and thoroughly. She got to zoom with some classmates and her whole face lit up! Tay has also been doing some "work" - like letter tracing, map coloring, counting, etc.

We baked and decorated my Grandma's Christmas Cookies using spring shapes and colors - Super delicious and not great for the waist line...

Avery made up a character names "Quarantine Girl" who tries to keep people happy during Corona Times
Lots of snuggles and books with G

Welcoming Uncle Du and Otis - The guys made a super yummy, authentic Vietnamese meal for all of us!

Avery and Tay have been doing lots of dance concerts and then they sign autographs and take selfies afterwards - They are also putting on plays like "The True Story of Little Red Riding Hood"

Avery filled in her calendar :(

Avery and Tay had a sleepover in Avery's room - Tay was sleeping underneath it with Avery's pretend monster Cami (Then they both woke up at 12:30 and got in bed with me :))

Tay has been really into building - Legos, Marble Races, etc. He built this "Corona House" that has all sorts of ways to protect you from the virus. Avery has been into having Doctor and Vet clinics.
Bingo is making out well - Tons of attention and walks!!
