Tay's 20 Month Update

It has been a fun and crazy month settling into our new home. And Tay is busy as ever!!

  • Tay loved his visit with Lai Ma and Uncle Du along with Otis. He really loved having a dog in the house and followed him around, fed him treats, and played/petted him a ton. He was also obsessed with Uncle Du - needed to know where he was at all times and wouldn't leave a room without him. Completely into Du and it was super cute since Tay doesn't always take to people like that!
  • He is loving the nice weather and being outdoors. Always happy to be pushed around in one of his cars and loves the swings and slide at the park and following around the big kids. There is a little double slide at our neighborhood park and he always wants someone to slide down with him. Gets mad if no one does and refuses to go down it.
  • Tay is still not a big talker - He was great at saying "Duuuu". But when you ask if he wants to do something and he does he squeals and does this motion with his arm like "ringing the bell".
  • He was also playing a game with Hung where we would throw a ball and then say "I go get it" and run off. So phrases are coming slowly...
  • Tay is quite the strong-willed boy and is NOT happy when he doesn't get his way. He can SCREAM like no other and gets very inconsolable. Avery did not throw tantrums like this so it's new for us.
  • When he is shy or doesn't want to see someone he does the "dracula" move where he puts his elbow up to his face makes an "UH" sound. Sometimes G does it back to him and he totally gets the joke and giggles.
  • Tay is loving playing with cars, window cling-ons, balls, instruments, baby dolls and also likes his bounce house. And he'll just get into whatever is available - He was playing in G's office and found a box of plastic forks and spent a good 20 minutes passing them out to people, putting them back, taking more from the box and passing them out again. Over and over.
  • Sleeping and Eating are the same as the last few months. Cheese and sticky rice have been favorites lately. And he has also loved trying some Easter treats that have ended up in the house. Having popsicles outside after dinner are also a favorite - but SUPER messy!
  • Tay got a really bad haircut this month - Once it grows out a little we'll get it fixed with a real barber :)
  • He is just a funny kid - really busy and always on the move. Interested in whatever is happening. Very intense with his feelings - can be SUPER happy and laughing but also get really upset at times (not getting his way, feeling left out or behind really sets him off).
Tay is TERRIBLE at getting his pic - and I swear he smiles but I can never capture it well :(

Happy Easter 2017!

We had a wonderful Easter Weekend! Avery started off the festivities with an Easter Event at Saks with my mom - It was a fundraiser for Peyton Manning and they had a blast. There were crafts, an egg hunt, a change to meet the Easter Bunny, and a bunny pancake breakfast. There was a little girl crying because she didn't find many eggs and Avery looked at G, went over and gave the girl a bunch of her eggs. She then said to G "I just wanted to help her because, you know, I'm grateful."

Avery left a detailed note and snack for Easter Bunny on Saturday night before going to bed. And she was SO excited - She was up at 6 ready to go. G held her off til 9 and then she couldn't wait any longer. The Easter Bunny had a 25 clue egg hunt that led to their baskets and Avery was just adorable going through the clues. High-fiving me when she figured them out and so chatty and sweet. Tay woke up about 1/2 through the hunt and really enjoyed opening presents and playing with their new toys. And please excuse Tay's bad haircut - We tried out Cookie Cutters which was a nightmare and we keep telling him he got "Bo Ricked" (A phrase we used when Cullen got a bad haircut about 20 years ago in Detroit). Avery then crashed right after lunch for a bit - the excitement wore off and the 6 am wake up sunk in. We spent the day with Lai Ma, YeYe, Cullen, KJ, Grammy, G and Papa. Marija, Bill, Lila and Lena also stopped by for the Viking Meadows Egg Hunt. We had a lovely dinner prepared by G and Hung and it was fun to host in our new home. Lots to be grateful for!

Busy Spring Weekend

We had a fun weekend enjoying the nice weather and getting ready for Easter. On Saturday, I took the kids to an Easter Egg Hunt at Grammy's. She was really excited to have us there - Avery was really worried that she wouldn't get any eggs but she found plenty! It was Tay's first time and he eventually got into it - We also got to take a picture with the "easter bunny" - Tay was SUPER confused by the situation. Afterwards we spent some time at our neighborhood park.

After nap, we dyed Easter Eggs and then had a picnic dinner with G at West Park (we are very happy to have her home from Spring Break!). Tay is such a daredevil at the park - will climb anything, go down any slide without hesitation and will jump off of anything. SO different from his extra cautious sister!

Saturday night, my cousins Emily and Billy stayed over with their kids Liam and Kelly on their way home from vacation. We loved hanging out with them - Tay thought all the big kids were so cool and had a blast following them around while they played. The kids loved jumping in the bounce house and we were able to have nice brunch at Patachou and play in the park a little before they headed home on Sunday. We ended the weekend with decorating the house for Easter with G and some Harry Potter. It was such a nice spring weekend!! Looking forward to more to come!
