Christmas Cookie Craziness

Avery and I (along with G, KJ and the Armato's)  spent Saturday night and pretty much all day Sunday baking dozens and dozens of Christmas cookies. We made sprinkle Sugar cookies, Candy Cane Cookies, Oatmeal Cranberry Cookies, Cornflake Wreaths, and my Grandma Hopkins' Christmas Cookies (THE WORLD'S BEST). This was the first year Avery really got into it - She helped me prepare and mix most of the batter and decorated a lot of cookies (while also eating a ton of toppings and icing!). It was a lot of work but worth it - We made cookie tins for all of her teachers that she'll get to pass out to them tomorrow. And we made tons to keep for ourselves.

We ended the day watching One Magic Christmas together - My favorite Christmas movie growing up! Love watching it with my kids.\

I have such amazing memories of making Grandma's Cookies as a kid with her and my cousins. Warms my heart to pass it along to Avery!

Polar Express 2017

G has taken Avery to French Lick for the Polar Express the last two years and this year Taylor and I joined. Before the Polar Express we went swimming - Avery is already a little fish but Taylor really took to the water. His swimmies finally stay on and he could have swam on his own all day. Avery loved playing dolphin and doing tricks and Tay loved copying Avery and fetching the ball. The water actually was pretty warm so G and I did not freeze to death!

After we got cleaned up and in our pajamas for the train ride, we went to the arcade. Avery shockingly won a giant Unicorn in the claw game that she gave to her friend Bryn. Tay still loves to "play" any game - no need to insert coins :)

The Polar Express was such a magical experience. The conductor and Elves in our train car could not have been more into it - They danced and sang and learned all the kids' names. Avery was a little shy at first but then started really dancing and singing with the elves. Tay was a wild man - dancing crazily to every song and then doing somersaults over and over. Everyone was cracking up at him. After we went through the magic tunnel we arrived at the North Pole - Santa got on the train and the Tay lost it. Screaming "SANTA" and jumping around. Santa somehow knew Tay's name without being told and Avery is now convinced it was the real Santa. Tay was tired by the end and started asking for a show on my phone with about 10 minutes to go. But overall it was such a fun ride!

We all crashed as soon as we got back to our room and slept well that night. On Saturday we had a yummy breakfast buffet, looked at all the Christmas decorations, G let both kids pick out a souvenir and we had one more quick swim before heading home. We had such a great time and are already booked for next year. Avery wants this to become out tradition - G and I agree!!

Pool Time!

Arcade Time - And Avery's big claw game win!

Terrible Family Pics - Just Awful!

Santa!!

Our neighborhood hosted a Santa & Mrs. Claus party with Cookies and Hot Chocolate. The kids had a treat and colored while waiting to see Santa. When it was our turn, Tay hopped right up on Santa's lap and asked for Choo-Choo and made himself comfortable. Avery asked for a pretend parrot that you can control with a remote (we will see how that one goes - Santa sort of gave me the side eye at her request). HA!!

After meeting Santa, we played in the neighborhood clubhouse. Tay LOVED trying Pool, Air Hockey and Foosball. He had a mean game of Air Hockey going with Smith. Avery and Austyn had fun playing in the gym and in the playroom - I tried to check on them and was told to go away and they were buy playing pretend. It was a fun night and I love our neighborhood SO much!!

Fun Winter Saturday

We had a fun day out with Morrison/Popovich Crew. Avery and Lila tried ice skating for the first time and loved. Tay and Lena basically cried the whole time because they were too little to skate (next time we won't bring the littles :)).

After dinner, we went to the Lilly Corporate Event at the Children's Museum. The kids all loved the Jolly Day's exhibit and then Tay spent time at the Toddler PlayScape (he did an awesome job climbing all over the place) while the big kids went to the China Exhibit. It was a fun day!
