We spent Labor Day weekend up in Traverse City to celebrate Uncle Nate and Debbie getting married. It was a BUSY and wonderful weekend. We headed up with my mom on Friday and spent Friday and Saturday hanging with the Hopkins crew. Avery had SO much fun with all of her cousins who played with her non-stop. Tay also got lots of love and snuggles from the family. We had not all been together in quite some time so I had a blast catching up with my cousins, aunts, uncles and grandpa. We watched the first Michigan game together and enjoyed the 63-3 victory (watching games with my Grandpa is one of my favorite things). There was lots of beach, pool, and putt putt golf time along with just running around the resort with the kids playing and adults catching up.
Sunday was wedding day - My mom, KJ and I spent the morning creating all the centerpieces and setting up the reception with Teri, Nate, my Dad, Maddie and others. Hung stayed back at the hotel and Avery had another great day playing on the beach and going across the street to play bumper boats with her cousins. Then we all got ready for the wedding. Avery was a GORGEOUS flower girl and despite some nerves she did great walking down the aisle. Tay was the ring bearer and walked down with Hung and me. He was smiling the whole time and did awesome. After a beautiful ceremony on the beach it was time to party - The reception was a blast. I have never been to a wedding with so many talented musicians. My brother and sister both performed along with some cousins and tons of other players from Howl at the Moon. We danced and partied all night. Avery danced a ton and spent lots of time in the photo booth and just running around with cousins. Avery lasted til almost midnight before my mom took her and Tay back to the hotel. She was asleep in about 2 seconds :)
We ended the weekend with a Brunch on Monday with the whole family. Although the trip home took 9 hours with lots of traffic, we made it home safely and the kids did great in the car. We were all exhausted but grateful for such an amazing weekend with family.
Some funny Avery Comments:
- She wanted the band to play a song from Hamilton but they didn't play the one she wanted. So she asked Hung if he had brought his blue tooth speaker and could he play the song for them.
- At the reception she decided she was an actual prince and that her cousin Braden would be her prince. She said she was in love with him and asked if her hair looked OK and was it pretty enough for Braden. She also said she loves him more than she loves Tobin (her former school crush). A bit incestious but funny.
- When my mom took the kids back to the hotel after the wedding she couldn't find her hotel key. So she dumped her entire purse out on the floor and Avery said "G, my mom and I think your purse is really messy."
- When my cousin Billy took her putt-putt golfing with some of the kids she kept saying "Oh it's OK, you can just give me a zero. I don't care what my score is. My uncle Cullen says it's doesn't matter if you win or lose. It's only important to have fun"
- She also decide that she now only like Michigan State and doesn't like Michigan. She is trying to get under my skin and I started calling her "sparty" this weekend. She said it's because she likes their mascot??
- She talked non-stop about her cousins and how they are her best friends and how much she loves them. I have to make sure we plan more trips with them!! She is just in heaven when they are around.
I did not get a ton of pictures but will create another post once the professional photos are available!
