Where Did the First Person Come From?

I am on a call for work and in the background I am hearing an awesome conversation between Hung and Avery. She asked where the first person in the world came from and he is trying to explain evolution. She wants to know if the monkeys were around "zillions" of years ago and if me and Hung and our parents were originally monkeys. Now she is getting blown away by the fact that the first humans didn't have TV's, iPhones, tablets, clothes, lights or money.

Taylor's 8th Month Update

  • Taylor now has 4 teeth (2 top and 2 bottom) and has a big toothy grin.
  • He is mastering sitting on his own and getting from a sitting position to his tummy. He is great at rolling around and scooting to get what he wants but not into crawling or getting up on all fours quite yet. He does well in high chairs and shopping carts now which is nice.
  • Sleep - Finally seeing some improvement here!! He is napping consistently twice a day and sleeps about 90 minutes for each. Some days are better than others but he has learned the routine. He goes down great around 8 at night and usually has to cry some in the middle of the night but I pretty much let him be and only feed him once a night now. At SOME point I hope it's zero...we'll get there but we are in a much better spot than a month ago.
  • He is usually a decent eater and loves all the purees he has. Ashley has made him lots of yummy fruits that he devours and he does pretty well with his veggies, too. He is also eating puffs and teething biscuits and taking bites of things like bananas and mangoes on his own. He always wants to feed himself, grab the spoon, hold the banana, etc. So eating time can be messy and he goes through several outfits a day.
  • He is a very observant boy - Nothing makes him more calm and happy than being in the carrier facing out and just taking the world in. He rarely cries and is very content - especially if he is being held or someone is sitting by him.
  • Nursing is going great and he loves water out of a sippy cup.
  • Loves remotes and playing with his toys and watching Avery - she always makes him smile and giggle. And loves strings - If you have a sweatshirt with strings on he is your best friend.
  • He has gotten better being in the car - He is pretty happy to play with a toy and look around. And always happier when Avery is in the car with him. The car used to be dramatic - Now he seems to like it. The trouble can be getting him because he always wants to stand and does not want to bend his knees to sit. Kid LOVES to be in a standing position.
  • He is a busy boy - reaches and grabs for everything in sight. And is always whipping his head around and wanting to change directions that you are holding him so he doesn't miss anything. And will arch his back and look upside down to see what's happening behind him.
  • He is very demanding of Ashley- Wants her to hold him ALL the time. And gets really upset if she is not in his view and right next to him. She is basically one handed all day...And for naps she has to hold him like a baby and stare right at him before putting him in his crib (one time she was looking at her phone and he kept crying and grabbing her face until she put it down - once she made eye contact he settled in and fell asleep). At least now she can rock him before nap rather than bouncing on the exercise ball.
  • Lots of babbling and chatting. And a couple Mama's - not associated with me but still love when he says it.
  • He is in 9-12 month clothes. Some 6 month and 18 months will fit.
  • How is 2/3 of the way to 1 year?? Where is the time going?? He is one sweet, happy boy!

Busy Weekend - Zoo, Plays, and Golf

We had a fun and busy weekend with beautiful weather. On Friday, Uncle Du and Otis arrived. Saturday, Hung and Du golfed while the kids and I went to the zoo with G, Nyla and Christina. The girls loved feeding the giraffes, seeing the dolphin show, playing on the playground and having some ice cream. Saturday night we had dinner at G's and Avery put on an awesome play where she was a cat and wore Grammy's old Beaver fur coat. Sunday we all went our for brunch and then Du and Otis headed back to Chicago. We took Avery to her first golf lesson with her friend Jade. Not sure we have a future LPGA-er on our hands but she tried hard and it was nice to be outside enjoying the afternoon.

Tay Looking Cute

Hung snapped some cute shots of Tay smiling away. Such a happy guy (most of the time) :)

Avery's Spring Concert

Avery had her spring concert this Friday - She did a great job singing "She'll be Coming Around the Mountain" and "On the Road Again". Avery said her teachers told her to always smile and she really made sure to follow that and looked so sweet up on stage in her jeans and bandana. After the concert we had dinner at The Local with Lila and Jade's families. For some reason dinner took FOREVER but somehow Taylor didn't fall apart and Avery told Hung it was the "Best day of her life!" on the way out to the car.

Spring Break 2016

It was a fun filled Spring Break for Avery!

It started with a trip to the IMA with G and Parker. When they were are the IMA Avery said "G - I feel like I am going to cry. There is just so much beauty here!". After the museum they headed to the zoo and rode lots of rides and got crazy face paint. They ended the day with dinner downtown and a carriage ride around Circle Center. Avery came home and proclaimed it the "Best day of her life!!".

We then headed to GR to visit my Dad and Teri for a long weekend. Grandma Lou visited and it was so great to see her and introduce her to Taylor. Avery had a blast playing with the animals, Maddie's old American Girl dolls and we made a trip to the GR MuseumTAvery had lots of fun on the merry go round, visiting the Robot Zoo and her favorite spot is this pretend horse drawn carriage where she gives us rides to wherever we need to go. The weather was not great (we got 4 inches of snow one day) so we had to stay indoors. We also ventured to the mall where Avert loves the kids play area and we had my favorite - Olgas :) It was Grandma T's birthday so we also celebrated that and Avery created an Easter Egg Hunt that led to her present - very sweet.

The rest of the week we spent in Indy. Hung and I took Avery to the women's NCAA Championship Game with Nyla and her family - the girls loved getting treats and dancing to the music over the loud speaker. Not too into the game....Avery worked on her summer fairy garden and went to the library with Ashley, Hung took her to the Children's Museum and I took for her Mani/Pedis. She also went to UHS' Dance Marathon with G and had a blast dancing with all the "big kids". Over the last weekend Avery also "moved in" to our room - I saw her packing a suitcase down the hall and few minutes later she rolled it into our closet and unpacked some clothes and shoes (putting everything where I do in my closet) and also unpacked her toiletries (she took over Hung's sink) and put her pillow and stuffed animals on our bed and announced she was moving in for the weekend. She was very serious about it and matter of fact. So we just went with it! And we ended the vacation with a play date with Lila tomorrow.

It was fun having her home but we are all ready for our regular routine to start back up tomorrow :)
