Today was Avery's 1st day of school. It's her 2nd year at Children's House 1 and she was so excited to go back. She popped out of bed at 7 and was chatty and happy all morning. Last night I was telling her that now she is one of the older kids in her class and to make sure she is kind and friendly to all the new kids who might be nervous. I said they might have questions and she can help them - This then caused panic as she was worried she wouldn't remember everything from last year and not be able to answer their questions. I mean total panic! So we decided she can have them ask the teachers if she can't remember. It was so funny and sweet. But all panic was gone and she barely said good bye to us before running in to give her teachers big hugs and see all her friends again. I know she will have a great day!

Typical Avery Game
Avery LOVES to play pretend. This was a game where we were vets and had to clean and dry her doggies (all her scooby dogs). But to do this we had to wear gloves and ear muffs to protect ourselves (in the middle of August). I also had to wear gloves and she told me that pregnant people wear hats and not ear muffs. Love her and her amazing imagination.
State Fair Take 2 (With Daddy)
Avery and Hung had a Daddy/Daughter day on Tuesday and headed back to the fair. Avery did little Hands on the Farm again - 2 times. You are only supposed to go once a day and our little rule follower was all nervous going back a second time and tried to tell on herself but Hung snuck them in. They did tons of rides and games and had some good fair food (Corn Dogs and Elephant Ears). She was one happy girl and told Hung he is the most handsome and best daddy ever. I agree :)

Avery's Sunflower
Avery brought home a few tiny sunflowers seeds from a lesson she had in school last May. Avery and Hung planted them and one took - It went from a tiny sprout to a 6 foot tall flower over the course of the summer. The two of them were diligent about watering it and tending to it. Avery is SO proud of the flower she grew and we think it's pretty cool, too! Even the neighbors have gotten into it.
Her teachers want her to collect some of the seeds so they can try planting them at school next year. It was such a fun and rewarding summer project for Avery and Hung.

State Fair 2015
G and I took Avery to the State Fair today and we had a blast despite having to endure a couple unexpected downpours. Avery really loved the "Little Hands on the Farm" this year and was finally able to complete every activity on her own (in previous years we pretty much did it all for her!). She also loved the pony rides - It was the same company we used for her 2nd birthday party and she was not scared or shy at all. She told the woman leading the horse "I've done this before!".
After a short train ride and checking out some of the livestock we enjoyed Grilled Cheese sandwiches from the Dairy Barn and hit the midway rides. She started on the roller coaster which was a little too scary but then had a lot of fun on the rest of the rides. I wasn't able to go on them this year being so pregnant so G was a trooper and took her on some spinny rides and the Ferris Wheel and there were a few Avery could do herself. We also had some treats but our visit was cut a little short by the unexpected rain. Hung may be taking her back on Tuesday so they can fit a few more fair activities in that we couldn't get to today :) Either way, am glad we were able to carry on the tradition of going every year. My first fair I was pregnant with Avery and it's been a blast watching her enjoy it in different ways as she grows up.

Avery's 4th Birthday Party
Today we celebrated Avery's 4th Birthday party a little early at Recreation Unlimited. Avery had been counting down the days and was SO excited for her Scooby Doo themed party. She dressed as Daphne - wig and all until it got too itchy. G dressed as Velma and our amazing babysitter Melissa wore the Scooby Costume and played with the kids. It was such a fun couple hours - We had pizza and egg rolls (made my Lai Ma) which were a huge hit. And Scooby Doo Cake and goodie bags for everyone. Avery said her favorite part of the party was blowing out the candles. I barely saw her as she was running around with all her friends the whole time - I am glad she was able to be the star for the day!! And we could not have pulled it off at 37 weeks pregnant without G, Lai Ma, and YeYe! Having Uncle Du, Uncle Cullen, KJ, Papa, and Grammy there was also a bonus. Happy Birthday Sweet Avery. Love you a million.
