We had nice and quiet weekend at home and were able to even get outside a little bit and enjoy the sun! On Saturday we went for a walk around the neighborhood and Avery rode her bike and then we went to see the LEGO movie in the afternoon - It was a bit over Avery's head but she made it through the whole thing and didn't want to leave. I am thinking the popcorn and candy helped keep her in her seat :)
On Sunday, our friends Kathleen and Steve stopped by on their way to Florida from Chicago. We had not met little Libby yet so it was really fun to see them. Avery was very excited for the "the baby" to come over and promised to share her toys - which she did decently. When we were giving her a bath last night she was pretending to be "Baby Livy" (as she called her) and was putting all of her bath toys in her mouth (since Libby was putting everything in her mouth).
It was a great, laid back weekend - We got lots of playing in! I was not great on taking pics but got a few of the two girls together.

Henry and Holden's Valentine's Day Party
Avery and I went to Henry and Holden's Valentine's Day Party this weekend. We brought Brooke with us so her mom could have some time alone with new baby Zach. Avery had lots of fun - she chowed down on cookies and strawberry milk, played with the boys' toys, made a Valentine for Daddy and ran around with her friends (and also found a block that became "her camera" and kept making me say "Cheeeese"). It was a great day and am so thankful Leah throws this party for the kids every year :) We had such a great time!

Chinese New Year at the Children's Museum
Hung, Avery, G and I went to the Children's Museum today to celebrate Chinese New Year. They had a show featuring Chinese dancers, singers and a big "Dragon Parade" finale - It was fun to watch it with Avery and celebrate her heritage. There were a lot of other cool things to do to celebrate but she was a little too young for it this year - we will for sure go back next year to check it out.
We also hit all the usual spots - Merry Go Round, Science Works and the Dinosaur Section where Avery really got into it on this visit. She dug for fossils and then dressed up with Hung and walked around pretending to be a Dinosaur (Hung played right along and is an amazing Dad!).
We also headed to the mall in the evening - did some shopping and got Frozen Yogurt. There was a Calendar/Toy store that we stopped in our way out and Avery loved the Spider Man and Hulk masks. We all took turns trying them on. At one point Avery we yelling "I'm the HULLLK." We were dying laughing!! It was a great end to the day.
Happy Chinese New Year!

29 Month Update
Here are some fun and new things happening in Month 29:
- Avery picked up the sayings "Oh Shit" and "Dammit" - So Avery and G made up a new word called "Ding Ding" and Avery promised to say that instead of the bad words. When she was on her way back to school after winter break she said "I am gonna tell all my friends about Ding Ding."
- She is moving on from Frozen and is now really into a show called "Sheriff Callie's Wild West" on Disney Junior. All her rocking horses are back out in full force and she's talking like she's from the Wild West. She used the term "Sufferin' Sansafras".
- Update: After about 2 weeks she hated Sheriff Callie and got mad if we mentioned it and then decided she likes it again.
- She seems to be going through a growth spurt. Her 3T stuff is starting to get tight and we had to go stock up on 4T
- The one day I told Avery I wanted to squeeze her butt and she told me "It's just skin. It's not a toy and you can't play with it."
- Her teachers told us that a girl at school was trying to take Avery's snack and she said "Olivia, look at my eyes. Look at my beautiful eyes and don't take my snack."
- She continues to be all about Imagination - We spend most of our time playing some sort of pretend (Doc McStuffins, Scooby Doo, Little Einsteins, Frozen, Mickey, Rescuers etc.). When Hung drops her off at school she's usually in Fantasyland and her teacher, Ms. Sandy, always says "Good Morning Aves" and then Avery whispers who she is. The other day she goes "I'm Muno" (from Yo Gabba). Her teachers seem to go along with it but she is one quirky kid.
- She is so fun to read books to - She has most of them memorized and helps me read them. I am amazed by her memory! It also takes FOREVER to read a book because we have to talk through what ever person/animal/object on the page is doing. She can really stretch out the bed time reading :)
- Avery was really liking Hot Dogs so Hung bought her some that had cheese inside. She hated them - the next night Hung asked if she wanted a Hot Dog at the basketball game we were going to and she said "Yeah. Daddy the hot dogs you get were terrible. They had cheese in it and I really didn't like it." She loves telling us things are "awful" or "terrible".
- She loves to listen to the music from Frozen in the car and sing along
- Avery uses the terms "Sure", "That's Crazytown", "I'm sorry. It's all my fault", "Great Idea" and "How does that idea sound"
- She learned the term boring and will say "I'm Bored! That means that there is nothing to do and I am sad."
- She is not one bit shy! Whenever we are out and about she is very friendly and introduces herself. Although sometimes she introduces herself as whoever she is pretending to be. We were at Target and she told the check out woman "Hi I'm Anna of Arendelle". Oddly on the phone and when the video camera is on she gets pretty shy.
- The other night she was really tired and wanted to watch a show in our bedroom before going to sleep. She had Dora in bed with her and me on the other side. Hung said "Can I come lay with you guys?" Avery said "No daddy - There's no room for you. You go downstairs - there's room for you down there." Poor Hung!
- Avery is just a complete chatterbox - So inquisitive, funny and smart. She keeps us smiling, laughing and on our toes!
