UHS B-Ball Games

We have really been enjoying the home basketball games at UHS! Avery loves to get a Hot Dog when we get there for dinner. And then spends most of the time playing around in the hallways. She LOVES to play in the lockers. She calls them her home and closes herself in and tells us we are too big for them.

The other night she started playing with a girl named Naomi (very sweet 6th grade girl whose brother is on the team). Avery really took to her and nicknamed her "Nailey". Hung and I loved it since we got to watch the game and Avery had a blast exploring ever nook of the building with "Nailey."

She is quite the little celebrity at UHS and she just basks in. Dances to the pep band, cheers "Go Blazers" and walks around like she owns the place. We are always happy when there is a home game - fun night for all of us!!

A Fun Weekend with Grandpa, Grandma T and Aunt Maddie

We loved having Grandpa, Grandma T and Aunt Maddie visit this weekend!! They arrived Friday night and we stayed up late visiting and laughing - Avery was already asleep. On Saturday morning Avery was SO excited to wake up and play with her grandparents and Aunt Maddie. We spent the day inside since it was snowy and cold. Avery showed off her new Yo Gabba Gabba Jammies that she picked out from the boys department in Target and then put on her red dress that she wears about 3 times week. She loved reading books, playing "pretend" (LOTS of Pretend), playing her Match Game and watching shows with her family. Grandma T made a great Steak and Lobster dinner on Saturday night and we celebrated my birthday.

On Sunday Maddie and Avery goofed around and did some selfies. Then we went to the movie "The Nut Job" which was terrible!! Really confusing and hard to follow - but Avery enjoyed her fruit snacks and made it through most of it - It was no "Frozen". We'll stick to Disney for a while!! During nap Grandma T and Grandpa helped us get started on finally hanging pictures which we've been procrastinating on since we moved in - loving having things on the wall tonight. We were sad to see them go but incredibly happy to have had them here all weekend.

Oh and thanks to Uncle Nate for the personalized M&M's :)

Mama's Birthday

We celebrated my 33rd Birthday yesterday and Avery was really mad that it was my birthday and not hers. She kept telling us it was her birthday, too. So we agreed it was both our birthday's. She got to open all my presents and help me blow out the candles.

My mom brought over balloons and party hats at Avery's request as well as dinner and a U of M themed cake. At first Avery made us wear the hats but she refused to wear one - Bu the time we were having cake she agreed to wear a hat, too! Papa, Uncle Cullen and Kristen also made it over for the festivities. It was a wonderful and relaxing evening.

A Vaseline'y Evening

We've been cooped up for a few days due to the storm and bitter cold. With our Satellite out, we decided to head to G and Papa's last night to watch the BCS Championship Game and have a "sleep over". It all sounded so cozy and fun in theory but Avery never does well not sleeping in her own bed.

We started trying to get her to sleep around 9 in my mom's bed where she was going to sleep with G all night (which she was excited about). My mom tried laying with her for 2 hours and she would not sleep - just wanted to chat and play. So I had the brilliant idea of saying just leave her in bed and she'll fall asleep. We told her not to get out of bed. We left the room and all was quiet. My mom went to check on her 20 minutes later and found her sitting up in bed covered in Vaseline. She followed the rules and didn't get out of bed so we couldn't fault her there. She had found two small Vaseline jars plus an EOS lib balm and literally spread them ALL OVER the bed (sheets, pillows, stuffed animals) as well as her hair, hands, and jammies. EVERYTHING! We asked her why and she said the "bed was dirty and I needed to clean it." At this point we were approaching midnight and could not stop laughing. It was just too much....We decided to pack up and head home so we could ensure she'd go to sleep since we were now past hour 3 with no sleep in sight!

The roads were awful and after slip-sliding our way home we found they had plowed our street again and we could not get into our driveway (plus I had left my purse and phone at my mom's which I needed for work in the morning). The car was stuck so we had to climb out in the large piles of snow. I finally got Avery to bed while Hung spent 30 minutes digging the car out so it wasn't halfway in the street. Avery was up bright and early today - We researched how to get Vaseline out and gave her a Cornstarch and Baking Soda mask on her hair followed by washing it with dishwashing liquid followed by shampoo. It's drying now and looking better....We'll see...

We still have no TV but we are home, my mom brought my purse over, the driveway is re-shoveled and salted by Hung, Avery is bathed, we have a few hours of sleep and we will just try to survive this last Snow Day. Nothing to do but laugh at our sweet girl and add this to the memory book.

Snow Day

A huge storm hit the Midwest today - I think we got at least a foot of snow!! We went out and played for a little before the temperatures started dropping. We didn't have much luck building a snowman but Avery had a lot of success eating the snow :)

Christmas Vacation

Avery has had a great end to her Christmas vacation from school. Uncle Du and Otis came to visit for a few days as well as Aunt Amy and Uncle Kurt. Avery got tons of attention and had so much fun playing with her family. I was terrible about taking pictures but did get a few of Avery opening her gifts from Amy and Kurt - She got a slew of fancy/twirly dresses which she is enjoying :)

Hung and I had to work the last few days of her break - but Avery played with G all day so she was a happy girl. Back to normal life in a couple days (although a HUGE storm is headed our way so we may be cooped up a little longer than we thought before heading back to school).

Happy New Year!
