15 Month Update

Avery seems to get more and more fun and cute and every month. Some things she is up to recently:

  • LOVES Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. She tries to get us to turn it on all the time. Will walk us to the TV and hand us the remote and say "Mo" for Mouse. As soon as the episode is over she is asking for more. We are trying to limit this obsession as best as possible!
  • She has 16 teeth - I think we only have the back 4 molars to go
  • Avery's favorite thing is still her books - she typically speed reads. And she knows the names of lots of them. So we'll ask her for one and she'll dig through her bins until she finds it.
  • She keeps adding to her animal sounds (elephant and wolf are some of the newer ones)
  • She talks a ton and her pronunciation and attempts at real words are getting better and better
  • Avery loves to dance (especially in our shower with the door closed and by herself)
  • It amazes me how much Avery understands when we talk to her or ask her for things. It's so fun to watch! When she doesn't understand something she put her hands up and shrugs her shoulders like "I don't know".
  • Avery is growing fast - Her shoes are a size 6! And she is between 18 month and 2T clothing. I feel like as soon as I buy her something she is growing out of it.
  • She continues to be a very busy and curious toddler. She makes us laugh every day.
It was very hard to get a picture this month....The minute she saw the sign she needed to have it and crumple it up. I did the best I could.

Dancing in the Shower

Avery loves to go into the shower, close the door and dance by herself. Hung caught it on tape last night,

Thanksgiving 2012

We had a family filled Thanksgiving weekend. Things kicked off with Uncle Du arriving on Wednesday with his new black lab Otis. At first Avery and Otis were a little unsure of each other but after a night together they became best buddies. Avery called him "O E" and loved sharing her food, pacifiers and toys with him. And Otis enjoyed snacking on one of Avery's shoes.

On Thanksgiving we had Du, Uncle Cullen, Gramps and GG over for dinner. Unfortunately my mom came down with a horrible stomach/flu bug and missed all the festivities - It was not the same without her and we all really missed having her (and her cooking!). But with some last minute help from Whole Foods we pulled together a great Thanksiving feast and had a wonderful day together.

On Friday, Grandpa, Grandma T and Aunt Maddie came to town and stayed for the weekend. Besides the very depressing Michigan/OSU game we had a great visit (you can see in the pictures that Avery was very sad about the loss!). Avery LOVED having constant attention - she played non-stop all day. She loved reading books with Aunt Maddie, having picnic time with Grandma T and dancing with Grandpa. She also kept running up to my Dad and just giving him big hugs - loved it!

Avery also found a new obsession this weekend - Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. The girl can't get enough and immediately signs and asks for more when the episode ends.

Grandma T brought us a giant bag of hand-me-down clothes from the Fredricksons and almost everything was a 4 or 5 T so we have some time until it will fit. However, Avery (since she LOVES to dress up) had to try on one of the pair of jeans right away and walked around in them for a good part of the weekend. They barely stayed up (over her regular pants or pajamas) but she got upset and asked to have them put back on whenver we took them off. I have now stowed them away in the closet and I'll have to work on getting her some dress up clothes that fit a bit better.

It was a Happy Thanksgiving weekend and we were sad to see everyone leave this morning. At least Christmas is right around the corner.....

What Are You Wearing?

Hung went to pick up Avery from school today and found her in a Mailman costume. Her teacher said she asked to have it put on and cried when they had to change her diaper and take it off - so back on it went! Not one other kid was dressed up - Just Avery. We have had to hide her Halloween costume because she wants to wear it all the time. Looks like we may have a girl who is into "Dress Up".

A Visit from Mike and Robin

Uncle Mike and Cousin Robin visited from Michigan this weekend and we had so much fun spending time with them. Avery was totally obsessed with Uncle Mike - She ran up and hugged his legs everytime she saw him, was reaching for him to hold her, talking a ton to him, and also kept trying to get him to lift his shirt so she could give him a raspberry (this last request he did not agree to but it's one of her favorite things lately). Hung and Mike were able to fit in a cold, November round of golf and Avery and I went swimming with Robin in Grammy's pool. We had great meals (LaMarg, Hollyhock, and some "Chuck" brunches) and spent a lot of time just catching up. We wish we could see them more often and were so happy that they made the trip to Indy.

Avery is also still totally into her dog costume from Halloween - She keeps bringing it to Hung and me and loves to walk around and play in it. Too funny!
